Google..large brass and wood magnifier and you'll find brass ans wood, brass, bubinga wood, mother of pearl and others of different diameters. Most are very nice.

Well, since you are in Ypsi, call Stadium Opticians in Ann Arbor. They might have something that might suitable for you. I got my magnifying glass from Dobbs Opticians, a German made product, when they were still in business.

If it was for you, I'd suggest you buy 2. One for each place you need one. Mine is never by my recliner. I've found the curved surface of a hand sanitizer jar will work in a pinch. OK, I need a 3rd one.

$20 bucks will get you a Leather Rimmed Magnifying Glass Lens with a 6x power rating that you wear around your neck on a leather thong ensuring you never loose track of the last place you put it down...

The large plastic Fresnel lenses are best for that. I actually melted the lead out of a bullet using one. On a sunny day, paper will ignite with an audible pop.
