I know VPNs aren’t new but they’re new to me. I feel it’s probably time to start using one but honestly I know next to nothing about them. I’ve read and researched and there seem to be services that’ll do more that I understand.

I’m looking for something effective, easy to use, and not terribly expensive per month. Will be using for iOS devices at home and on the go. I’m sure they’re more useful than I know so there may be other applications I’m not thinking of.

From what I read so far I’m thinking NordVPN or Private Internet Access VPN might be what I’m looking for. But I’m very open to your recommendations on what you’re using and happy with. Whatever it is needs to be easy to set up and use.

Thanks

I use NordVPN and have been very happy. It works great and is fast. Price is good also (find a coupon).

I use Avast. It's about two bucks a month. I'm not sure if it's doing a good job or not?

Why are you looking for a VPN? Can you articulate your reasons other than it just seems like something to do?

If you're worried about personal information being stolen, if you're connected to an app or via browser to a secure site, the data is encrypted between your device and final destination.

Are you worried about data being collected by third parties by tracking your IP address and cookies? Are you concerned about advertisements showing up on websites that match your recent searches?

We use NordVPN. Good price with deal and their privacy policy is a strong plus. Who keeps logs and who will release them is a factor. They purge every 15 if I recall.

I used PIA for years, but just switched to Nord. I really like it. They are both excellent. But as many have said, it depends on the use. In my case, there was some content that Nord did a better job of providing. Also, it depends somewhat on your operating system. Nord for linux is command-line, whereas PIA has a GUI interface.

Nord works, even in countries where VPN is restricted, and where various services or web sites are restricted. They have several options such as VPN inside VPN, "onion," and obfuscated servers that are quite useful in some locations that filter, moderate, and monitor internet connections, or that bar connections outside of the state approved systems. Not perfect, but useful.

NordVPN here. They have a special if you buy 3 years, it's $3.49 a month. That's the best deal out there.

Nord VPN is pretty good now compare to a year ago, I got so frustrated and ask for a refund, they are pretty responsive to their customers. Glad that stick with them

In terms of cost, ease of use, and ability to stream Netflix or amazon video along with customer service, I recommend PureVPN. I got the 5 year plan.

I started with Nordvpn. Sent an email saying my internet was slow. No answer. Then 2 or 3 weeks, I couldn’t stream Amazon. It was inside of a month, I emailed to cancel and get a refund. Someone emailed saying could I give them time to fix it. I forwarded the first email I sent with no response saying you had your chance.

With PureVPN after an update, I noticed I couldn’t select from I want to appear to be. Inside of 24 hours, I got an email back saying to log out then log back in. That fixed it.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." For what it's worth, I also use Nord VPN, on all iOS devices (iPhone, MacBook Pro, etc). I really like the ability for it to auto-launch on startup; you can disable this, of course.
Some apps don't like VPNs, like YouTubeTV for one. You just have to experiment, see what works and doesn't.

+1 for NordVPN. Reasonably priced if you can buy a 3-year contract. No complaints after using it for about 2 months now.
