We have had "public" education for about 100 years or so. It's inherently socialist, which is more readily apparent day by day. (This reminds me of Jallen, I wish he were here today) I know many people do just fine in public schools and are strong enough to withstand the indoctrination... but IMO we were better off before public education swept this country and we would be better off without it now. Education is too important to turn over to government. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Used to be, a person had a differing opinion, you argued for/against, with facts, and had a civil discussion. Until Obama "FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED AMERICA". Those days of civil discussion seem to have been replaced with temper tantrums, stompy feet, crying, yelling, and most of all, calling you a racist. I frequent some other boards with a larger snowflake presence, and they are nauseating. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

This is where good parenting comes in. That is very important! So many children today do not have comprehensive parenting. I grew up with public education, but my father was a professor who was very much against the prevalent Marxist trends in vogue, during the 1950s - 1970s, and beyond. Very few kids these days have that sort of guidance. And that is why we have a blizzard of snowflakes of late. Most modern kids have not had much political/social guidance at home, during their formative years. I wonder how many modern parents really pay much attention to these issues anymore. I feel our SF community is in the minority. Most families don't even discuss these concerns. When I grew up, we watched the news every evening. We stayed home from school to watch the moon landings etc. I remember watching the Watergate hearings in black and white. Today, do any families give a rats' ass about real events, and real news? OK..that is my rant for the day.

Very good comment. I saw it first hand as a National Guardsman at the Ohio State riots back in 70. The Profs would lead the students right to the point where law breaking would start and then the profs vanished and left the students to get arrested burning and throwing rocks and bricks and assaulting police.
