Fairfax County’s board of supervisors mocks Christians by designating Easter as Transgender Visibility Day Login/Join

Last week, Democrats on Fairfax County‘s board of supervisors voted to designate Easter Sunday as Transgender Visibility Day. The proclamation goes far beyond the supposed intent of making transgender people and gender ideology activists feel seen. Members of the board are also sending a message to Christians that they do not matter as they turn one of their holiest days into a celebration of an ideology that undermines the church’s core convictions.

Ironically, Chairman Jeff McKay, a Democrat, paid lip service to the importance of advocating all constituents when the board passed the resolution. He said, “As an elected official, it should be our moral responsibility to stand up for all people that we represent, not just the people we like or the people we agree with.”

If McKay and other members of the board were serious about their stated commitment to representing constituents, there are many other days they could have designated as Transgender Visibility Day.

Members of the board also used their illogical decision to hijack Easter as an opportunity to celebrate the governing body’s ideological homogeneity. The nine Democrats present at the meeting all voted in favor of the measure, but they lamented that there was one member of the board who was not present for the vote. Pat Herrity, a Republican, likely did not want to antagonize Christians who feel that their holy day is being desecrated.

Herrity’s absence appears to have been unacceptable to James Walkinshaw, a Democrat. Walkinshaw advocated complete groupthink on the board of supervisors when he said, “I’m looking forward to the day when we have a full dais for this proclamation, and that day will come. One way or the other, that day will come.”

The lyrics of the Catholic hymn "Be Not Afraid" come to mind:

And blessed are your poor
For the kingdom shall be theirs
Blest are you that weep and mourn
For one day you shall laugh
And if wicked men insult and hate you
All because of me
Blessed, blessed are you

Be Not Afraid

An example of why you can't trust anything you see, hear, or read in the "news," regardless of whether it's legacy media or otherwise. Regardless of whether it aligns with your views or not.

They may have voted to recognize Transgender Visibility Day, but they could hardly have voted to designate it as such, being as...

International Transgender Day of Visibility (often referred to as TDOV or Trans Day of Visibility) is an annual event occurring on March 31 ... The event was created by transgender activist Rachel Crandall of Michigan in 2009 ...
(emphasis added) Ref: International Transgender Day of Visibility

It just so happens Easter falls on the same date this year.

Good point ensigmatic. I always tell my sister to be just as careful of right wing news as left wing news. It all has to be checked to a certain degree.

That being said, I 100% believe that the original date for this "event" was chosen because of course it will fall on Easter at times. Intentional and needlessly adversarial.

Possibly, but, just as likely she looked at the calendar and picked it as an easily-remembered date that didn't conflict with any of the other multitude of "national/international <whatever> days" on the calendar.

In case you've never looked: Pretty much every day of the year has multiple national or international celebrations/observations of one kind or another.

The left is on a rampage to destroy American life and replace it with their own socialist society. It's not a coincidence that the proclaim "Indigenous Peoples Day" the same day as Thanksgiving.

That is true of course but Easter has a bit more gravitas and history than Earth Day or Ashura. (I just pulled up apple calendar, absolutely no idea what Ashura is but Apple thinks it is a holiday lol) I still doubt it wasn't intentional.

I'm with you brother! At least I'm not living in Arlington or Alexandria, both of which are even more woke than Fairfax.

Pat Herrity is a treasure in this area, I just wish we could even get a Conservative on the ballot in my district.

Not for a second do I believe this wasn’t done intentionally. And since nobody has said it yet, fuck mentally ill transgenders and fuck their leftist water carriers.

I left Virginia for the Low Country of South Carolina in 2020 because it was clear where Fairfax County and the Commonwealth of Virginia were headed. But this sacrilegious behavior takes the cake.

Me too. Just moved to Phoenix, AZ a couple weeks ago, after living 57 of my 63 years in Virginia. It wasn't the only reason I moved, but it played a factor. Taxes, especially real estate taxes are ridiculous. In my new location, real estate taxes are 1/3 of Fairfax County's, and state tax is half. In the past couple of years, violent crime has risen tremendously. And I can't stand crap like this designation of Easter, nor can I tolerate the crap in neighboring Loudoun County in the schools, although I am not really affected by it. Fairfax county will no longer get any of my tax dollars.
