The short version: Mom called yesterday, WordPerfect isn't printing right. Prints come out looking like the left margin is set at about 4", and the remaining text at the right just vanishes off the page. As experiments, I asked her to print a PDF. That came out fine. She wrote a paragraph in Notepad, and that printed correctly. Having tested with different applications, it appears the problem lives within WordPerfect. Mom says, "it printed this document just fine two days ago, today it comes out funky." Okay, so we loaded a different document and printed it. Sure enough, there's about 3-4" of white space on the left, and the wraparound doesn't take place until somewhere well beyond the right side of the paper, despite looking correct in Print Preview. Again, we walked through the print setup. Letter size, portrait orientation, 1" margins all around. We went through Settings to look at the printer setup again, and all looked well there. Again, Letter, portrait, etc. At some point in the conversation we verified settings at print time and all was well, then when attempting to print again we saw that the settings had been changed (in WP) to something described as Letter Index Card. (I'm not familiar with that setup.) Mom didn't change that herself... what gives? It's an older version of WP (Version 6, maybe? I neglected to ask yesterday). What in the world? Any WordPerfect experts awake this morning? Thanks, all. God bless America.

Can you update it? I'd also look at your driver for your printer. I only use WordPerfect as I think Word is a piece of crap but I've never seen this. __________________________

1979 release date is one problem. Corel is another. Would update to X9 if you want reliable compatibility - the latest iteration of v6 (6.2) is 1997 software. You didn't mention OS, but even advancing to v7 might help if she's using Windows. I've been using WP since the early 1980's (MS-DOS version). I'd look at the Page Setup within the document itself to see if a different size has been selected. Also look at the codes (Reveal Codes, "Alt-F3) to see if something there indicates the issue. "Cedat Fortuna Peritis"

Probably can. It's looking more and more like I'm going to have to make a road trip and sort out this and a couple of other things. I think the printer driver ought to be okay, as this printer (HP all-in-one of some sort) has only been in place for a few months.
Sure enough, I didn't. She's on Windows 10. I'll find out about the WP version today.
Thank you! I had forgotten all about Reveal Codes. God bless America.

Update: It's version 12 (whew!). And today brings an inability to open WP documents at all. The error is something like "selected item not accessible and will not be returned to the application." Eesh. I'm thinking uninstall/reinstall may be next. God bless America.

A wild guess here, sounds sort of like the problem I'm having with QuickBooks data files; in Windows Explorer (I think that's what it's called), right-click on the document file and take a look at Properties. My files are somehow getting reset to Read-Only, I have to un-check that every time I want to use the file, in order for the program to open it. Royal pain in the ass, the work-around is easy enough, but it's extra steps each time. Blech! הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים
