If someone wants to develop a political career, that's not a bad place to start. Politicritters don't get much respect here, but there are lots of them, especially at the local and state government level, who would just love to get a House seat. She, if she cares to do it, could just waltz into one.

One of the nice things about being pond scum is that no one notices you unless you do something dramatically stupid - most of the time. That means you get to soar up from obscurity every other July and make long speeches about all the bills you co-sponsored that no one noticed, all the votes you cast that no one noticed, and how you're going to solve all the evils that no one noticed you ignoring or even voting for. What press she gets is almost certainly gonna be fluff - hell, Selena Gomez' publicist would giver her eyeteeth for a client like Chelsea. In the fullness of time, even after she makes a few horrible mistakes and gets nailed to the wall for them, she'll expect to be able to climb back onto the stump to run for a higher office and pretend that all of those mistakes never, ever happened anyway (thank you, tame media). At that point she'll start harping on her 'experience', just as her mother did, and hope no one notices that there's no substance to her 'experience', just as her mother did. And who knows? Perhaps by the time she's spent a few years in the House there'll be a few people who'll do what she wants because they owe her favors or think she can do something for them later, rather than because they owe, fear or want something from her parents. You and I know that that approach may no longer fly, but the Clintons and their lackeys don't. | |||
