Trump is hitting these egghead economists and 'experts' with a question they can't or won't answer. I've asked for years on here and otherwise online and never seen it addressed. Most conservatives are for free trade. Milton Friedman and other economists tout free trade as the only viable economic alternative. We have never had free trade in the US. Other countries charge us outrageous tariffs to enter their market and we freely let them enter ours. That can only be sustained for so long before you end up in the situation we have today, the US with hundreds of billions in trade deficits and no market for any goods produced here. Trump is not pushing isolationism. He has stated all he wants is reciprocal trade agreements. He has said he would like to see no tariffs anywhere. That is common sense and the way it should be, but all you hear is interviews with 'experts' saying we must have 'free trade' (which means all countries on earth charge the US outrageous tariffs while selling freely to US citizens). I'm glad to see Trump ending this nonsense. It's decades overdue. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

I thought he wears Neuticles®? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Yidn, shreibt un fershreibt" "The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. At Rotterdam, London, Warsaw and half a hundred other places, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind." -Bomber Harris

I agree wholeheartedly with you on every point you've made. I am sure that Friedman, Sowell, et al, would agree that one-sided tariffs are not free trade. I am positive Lawrence Kudlow agrees with the President. I guess the man with degree in economics from Wharton and mega-successful business background may know a little bit about what he is doing. .

But, but .. you don't understand, this is the price the US must pay for holding the world's currency not to mention cooperation from our "allies"! [/pundits and economists] Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.
