I'm sorry, I paid a lot more than $1200 in taxes, and I'm quite happy to get some of my money back.

Mine arrived on Thursday, paper check, when I looked it up on the IrS site previously, the site shit it's pants, even if I used capital letters.

Got mine weeks ago, put the money towards a Rolex.

We sold off a majority portion of our business in 2017. I knew what was coming in terms of a tax hit on the capital gains but my wife didn’t grasp it. We visited our accountant several months before the sale to get estimated tax liability and to have some papers prepared.

My wife was in tears on the drive home after what the accountant told us to expect. After 27 years of hard work building a business we did a little better than break even from investment. When Obama said you didn’t build that, he was right.

I’m still paying for it because my Medicare premium taken from my social security is double because of they go off previous years tax statement to determine Medicare premiums.

So yes I will gladly take any pittance they want to give back to me. What did we do with our stimulus? Paid a portion of our estimated quarterly taxes. There always will be wealth redistribution even if Trump is president for the next fifty years. Rarely does it come back to the people paying heavily into it and when it does I’m not feeling one ounce of shame for taking it. If there’s any shame to be felt in this it should be on the other side. The government should be ashamed of how they rape the hard working taxpayers in this country.

Not to mention income tax is only the tip of the iceberg. Besides the government will get this stimulus back and more over time through property tax hikes and other tax hikes. The states will need to recoup all the lost revenue over this reaction to a virus.

My wife took care of an elderly uncle, and when he died in August, she became administrator of his estate.

About a week ago, a check came addressed to him (noted as deceased) and with her noted as administrator. We knew it needed to be returned and looked up the proper address. However, the envelope clearly stated on top that if the addressee was deceased, to check the printed box and place the envelope in the mail. To avoid the cost of another envelope and postage, we did as the instructions stated. Lo and behold, about 3 days later the check showed back up in our mailbox. This time, my wife printed in red ink "Return to Sender" with an arrow pointed to the instructions on the envelope. So far, it hasn't come back, but we'll see.

It'll end up on IRS Schedule 1, line 19 - IRA Deduction. And from thus onto Form 1040, line 8a, Adjustments To Income. To reduce my AGI. As well as possibly trigger an additional credit on Schedule 3, line 4, Retirement savings contributions credit.

I never understood. A deduction and a credit for the same contribution.

That is the interesting thing about getting old. After a point you've bought everything you want, learned that getting rid of something of value you no longer want can be a PITA, nd hopefully have acquired cool durable stuff. The perfect shoes, duffle bag, tools, dental crowns.

Finally got mine. Need ammo.

And so far, exactly ~zero~ people I know personally have any kind of stimulus check.

We got ours on April 30th. I invested mine into a new rifle. Needed it like I need a hole in the head, but $1k Noveske's don't grow on trees. Better than money in the bank, IMO.

Wife cashed hers out and put it in the rainy day fund.

They will review it as its for your latest year filing and your status has changed. Providing you havnt made too much income and, you've made available your banking information, your check should be deposited along with any tax refund you may have coming.

Well strangely enough I just received mine here in Canada.
The US has some very strange rules for those it considers citizens. I was born in Philadelphia while my father completed his post grad there. I left the US when only 2 years old.
I recently learned that I was required to file US income tax returns even though I have not resided there for more than 50 years.
Well I guess it was worth all the hassle.
