Can the collective school me on Plavix. I've seen it described as "inexpensive". Here is the short version... It has been prescribed to a Niece of my wife. She is Mentally Retarded adult who suffers seizures. She lives off a disability check, is on TennCare and just was sent home after a trip to the local small town ER. Diagnosed with with blood clots in her legs and lung but they would not admit. 2 days later family took her to Vanderbuilt Hospital in Nashville. Again, refused admission and sent home with the same Rx. She was prescribed Plavix. I haven't been told the dosage or quantity etc. (I have asked) but she was quoted $1000 for it. She can't pay that. After begging the druggist is attempting to help, he now quotes $200. She can't pay that either. I gave her $100 towards it to help out and someone else chipped in the same but if that's a monthly quantity she's still in trouble. She still has not gotten the Rx filled. Does anyone use it or know the normal range of cost for it. My googling shows a fairly standard dosage of 75Mg once daily. The Good Rx site says it should be ~10 bucks a month with their coupon. I advised she should ask for a generic if possible, and go to a chain Pharmacy like Walgreens, Kroger or Walmart. Another aunt of hers is also trying to help but the holiday weekend has made it more difficult. She is currently trying to get in an appointment with her regular Dr. instead of the ER doc that wrote the Rx. Do we have a Druggist on staff? Anyone on this stuff? Collecting dust.

Ask for the cash price on the generic Med. Try some chain and independent pharmacies. That stuff is generic and is fairly cheap. GW.

Clopidogrel generic should be very cheap. No reasons she has to be on Plavix. Q

I’ve been out of retail pharmacy for 6 months after 15 years in. The generic, clopidogrel, shouldn’t be $1000. I have never seen a GoodRx coupon process for a different price than shown on the app. Having said that, some pharmacies may not honor the coupon. Your best bet is a chain, as already mentioned. Walgreens always honored GoodRx. Edited to add, just did a quick GoodRx check for my area. Prices for 30 days ranged from $9-$22. You may need to call the pharmacy back and ask for the pharmacist or if you spoke with the pharmacist, try a different pharmacy.

Thanks. I think the Dr. sent the Rx electronically to her regular place, no one else has seen it, It's a local 9 to 5 shop and may be an independent. I will forward the info the the Aunt and Mother. Sadly the Mom, who is first in line with responsibility to help, is also "slow" to some degree and illiterate, hence the effort by My wife and I and another Aunt to help. Thanks very much. Page late and a dollar short |
I've been on it for probably fifteen years together with 81mg aspirin. Clotting is slower. Just be sure to inform any doctor or dentist before any invasive procedure. Also, I'm now on the generic form at least for the last ten years. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A.
