Was planning on renting a rotor tiller and tilling garden. Also had a bunch of saw dust leftover from a large tree that the stump was ground down. I spread this over some low areas that pond in the rain and figured if tilled in with dirt then grass will grow and eventually it will feed the grass. Back is in all kinds of bad shape and my job is s physical one. I had planned on renting tiller this morning and doing it myself but I decided I rather give up a days pay to someone else rather than possibly miss a week or more of pay due to beating myself up. Sucks getting older. Wanted to post in the gigs section and it said there was a $7 fee to post on CL. When did they start charging for posting? Anyone got a idea for a free Craiglist-like site? Nope went back through. Typed post, followed all instructions and it most certainly wants a credit card for $7.00 to post it. I thought about posting something in the plutonic man looking for man/woman section, but then I might get some offers I'm not looking for... Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Not everything that decomposes makes good fertilizer. Sawdust isn't necessarily good for turf grass. It tends to be acidic and isn't very high in nitrogen. Further: What's produced in grinding out stumps, in my experience, is more like chips and chunks than dust. That definitely would not aid in turf-building. I asked my wife about your plan. (Certificate from local master gardening program conducted by the County Extension in cooperation with a state agricultural university and took some arborist classes.) She didn't think it a sound one. "America is at that awkward stage. A gig is a job and CL charges for job listings. Plenty of ways around it, but might not reach the best audience.

You are correct it will not aid in turf building, but I was hoping to get trash to serve as fill dirt and I had no way to remove it. I figured if I mix it with dirt the grass will grow in it. I can always add a hand full of extra lime in the areas to counteract the acidity. It's a mix of saw dust and the smallest sized pieces you'd find in mulch. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Somehow we seem to have miscommunicated a bit. From what I read and posted, seems like what they are charging you is right in line with their policy. Or maybe I am missing something. I do understand you not wanting to pay for something like that, however, in this case their policy...once you track it down...seems pretty straightforward. As far as a Craigslist-esque type site, maybe Oodle.com ______________________________________________ Aeronautics confers beauty and grandeur, combining art and science for those who devote themselves to it. . . . Missed that line, oops. I'll look up oodle, when I googled Craiglist-like sites I got only things for selling stuff. It sucks I can't do this myself. I'm thinking about saying fuck it pop a bunch of Advil and do it myself, but I have a strong feeling I'll regret it tomorrow. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

The sawdust and stump grindings will be good for the turf... in the long run... but it will suck up all the available nitrogen while decomposing... for a year or two. Adding some Nitrogen rich fertilizer will speed the process and somewhat offset that. If I had the sawdust / chips that I needed to dispose of anyway I would not hesitate to use it... but my yard is not exactly a showplace YMMV Collecting dust.

So now you have to pay to have yourself robbed, kidnapped, or killed? Bummer. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Now that you have to pay for your ads, perhaps CL can be sued when someone get's jumped? Of all the enemies the American citizen faces, the Democrat Party is the very worst.

So you're willing to give up a day's pay for somebody to do this, but not $7 to post it? Have you considered Facebook? We had some furniture made of wood from our barn. My wife made a Facebook post looking for a referral for a carpenter and found someone that did good work very quickly.

Went ahead and just rented one. 1/2 way done. Didn't feel like waiting to heal back from laborers, handyman, or landscaper, or whoever is the right person. Four Advil earlier and four later hopefully I will be good to go to spread seed tomorrow after the rain. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis
