Looking for a 5th OEM wheel for my spare so I can rotate 5 tires.

$450 bucks basically to my door without the sensor.

Does anyone know a good place to look for used OEM wheels?

When I had VW, I was a member of a VW forum. Also for Jeep forum. I find OEM wheels on their classified all the time. You may want to sign up for a forum of your vehicle maker. Lot of younger vehicle owners want after marker wheels. They sell them cheaper than dealership. If you get lucky, you may even get a slightly used with tires.

When my mom's 2012 Honda Civic had a bent OEM wheel, I tried to buy 1 OEM wheel. I ended up replacing all 4 with an aftermarket wheel as the set of 4 is only about a hundred or so more than 1 OEM wheel. Crazy prices.

FB market or Offer Up are other options. Not sure if they still have Craiglist.

I will never buy OEM from the dealer.

I just bought two wheels off eBay, cheap ones. They are steel, used, ‘reconditioned’.

They are for my Mom’s Ford Focus, I was kinda gifted it, then gave it to her. Two of the wheels had issues, so I’m getting around to correcting that problem.

You could look for the single, used. Just to back up some, is the price worth it to do the 5th wheel matched rotation?

Say you have the cheap spare, then just rotate the other 4. That $450 is more than a tire.

Just saying, if you want it to match, may have to pay up, or check the used market. Of course higher end wheels not cheap.

eBay - I purchased a full set of new F-150 OEM wheels from a dealership in another state. All 4 $800. There were a lot available from similar sources - the price was $199 each with free shipping - you could order 1 or a set.

FB Marketplace. I run dedicated snow tires in the winter so I have 2 sets of wheels for all 3 of my trucks/SUVs. All sourced from FB Marketplace.

The order I use of used stuff is:

Craigslist, because it has lots of local stuff,

Ebay, the stuff is returnable and

last Facebook market, because it always takes a long time with back and for to get it done.

Got some searches set up. I got 5k miles to find one before I have to bite the bullet.

I also looked at bed-mounted spare holders since these new tires won’t fit underneath. 250-900$

I’ll figure some way to secure it vertically to a tie down up in the front of the bed.

There’s places that sell take offs for reasonable prices. Or at least there were 8 years ago when I bought a set of 18” wheels and tires from a 2017 for $1,200. It was about what it was going to cost for tires alone on the 20” wheels my truck came with.

Any late model salvage yards in your part of WI?

I have purchased off a eBay, brand new 4 Runner rims for $400 shipped, used Highlander rims $500 shipped. All complete sets.

I appreciate all the help, I’m down to $175 on a single wheel right now. Adjusted my eBay search and found way more results. Gonna look for cheaper since I got a while before I need it. Of course I’ll have to add 60$ for a sensor but I can live with that.

$175 is good for a specific wheel you are looking for.

Have you searched by just the part number?

It may not always result in a bargain.

The cheapest OEM wheel I can find for my truck (that isn't bent) will set me back $1200.

The cheapest way to get factory wheels is... don't buy them from the factory.
I recently purchased 4 new GM wheels for my 2023 Corvette Stingray. GM wanted $4400 for all four wheels. Aftermarket part house price is $3200 for all four GM wheels. Crazy.

Check on whether or not you should do a 5-wheel rotation, with the advent of the radial tire, it went the way of the dodo bird. Now, all I'm seeing is swapping front-and-rear on the same side, not even side-to-side because apparently tires are directional-design now, not meant to be run backwards until the next rotation.

It's a strange new world out there.

I’ve been in the tire business over 50 years and nobody does 5 tire rotations. Some buy a full size wheel and a good used tire so they have a full size spare but that’s unusual.

Find the top forum or two for the vehicle and look in their ‘For Sale’ section.

I’ll look into it, the tires are asymmetrical so that SHOULD mean no single direction tread if I’m not having a brain fart in my thinking.

In my opinion, yes it is going overboard. When we rotate we typically cross one axle and move the other straight. LF to RR. RF to LR. RR to RF. And LR to LF. After three rotations each tire has been on a different corner.
