I believe I would like a lot of you if we met face to face. Very few maybe, maybe not, based on posts.

Hell, some days I'm not even too thrilled with me.

Some years ago a thread asked "What would you do with unlimited money?" or something to that effect. I posted I'd build a sanctuary with veterinary & support staff, and take in all the unwanted, unloved dogs everywhere. Para responded that he'd buy me a beer if we ever met.

That's how I feel about most here.

Living in sparsely populated flyover country there aren't many members close by. But unlike Nicky (O-O) who despite being way out of the way in Argentina has met a number of members, I've only met one who lives fairly close by.
I can't think of anyone active on the forum that I wouldn't welcome the opportunity to meet should they find themselves visiting the greater Black Hills area. As many have commented repeatedly the family here is remarkable.

One of my "dead selves"

I recall seeing this photo many years ago and it's always been the mental image/avatar I have of you.

I've only had the pleasure of meeting one member from The Forum and it was surely pleasurable!

I'd say we all know quite a lot about the handful of things each shares here, including an obvious love for country that threads through everyone who sticks around and participates.

Not too unlike coworkers, neighborhood pub patrons, school mates, close-ish to distant relatives, etc.

I've met a bunch over time. Several at a couple of trainings when Bruce Gray was still training as "Gray Guns", IDPA had a bunch of forum members in my area for awhile. It seemed like if you were shooting a SIG somebody would ask if you were on the forum and off ya go, so met a few there. Over time and before WA fixed their gun-violence problem by legalizing face-to-face sales, met a bunch of guys in those exchanges.

I've never met anyone in those face-to-faces that I wouldn't want to meet again.

Indeed; good to “see” you brother.

When I move to the area I live now in 2003, I met nearly all of my local friends here at SF. Some became my best friends to this very day. Almost every 1st face-to-face was at the range. Smile

I have had FTF with several SF members in the years I've been here. Never met anyone I'd not want to associate with. In years back, lbj would come to Dallas and we'd have a dinner with him. Unfortunately, the DFW members have not had a meet-up for quite a few years. I would very much enjoy doing that again.

I have an odd sense of humor, and frequently see phrases that strike me as funny and make a joke about it. I suspect that turns off some folks here. The weird thing is that I don't own a Sig, but have been here more than 15 years (and am still tolerated). I do "own" a SIG-Sauer SA revolver in .357 Magnum, but it was stolen in 1981 and is not in my possession.

Do I think one can make judgments about persons posting here? Yes, I do. I'm sure I'd like to meet more of you.

I've met a handful in person (out of state for a work conference & Houston NRA conv a few years ago) & had my preconceived notions about them, based on posting history.

None were far off from what I expected & I've had nothing but enjoyable encounters on the occasions I've been able to meet a member.

Most recent involved a couple hours on 2 wheels, always a good time, cut short by impending rain.

I have no preconceived notions about anybody else here, just as none of you would recognise me from your mental image of me - I'd bet a small fortune that you'd have me wrong most every time.

I remember that day as well - Tac and Mrs. Tac were a lovely couple to meet. I'll be going over to Dad's house in a little bit to take him to dinner - he will be 103 in just over two weeks.
