What a game! Two great pitchers making fools of the opposition. Walk-off means game over: walk off the field.

why wouldn't a player walk off the field ?

I was watching that game. Bote’s story is interesting. His average exit velocity is number 1 in all of MLB!

Because he danced off instead! Cool

We watched the game, too, and replayed the HR four or five times on our DVR!

It was spectacular, alright. I hope the Cubs take heart from this and start playing better, since it's still going to be a while before we get Bryant back.

I was watching that game last night. Incredible. A no-doubter.

Bad things can happen when you walk batters, hit batters and intentionally walk batters to load the bases.

Even more incredible was a play by a A’s outfielder. He made a near miracle catch in left center field at the wall, then threw a strike, no bounce, to the first baseman to double up the runner. I believe the stat service said it was 321’. Not only a long way to throw but perfectly accurate. Yikes!

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I watched it also live last night. What a great game between the pitchers?! The Cubs, of late, are very capable of pulling off those wins.

With games like these, why would I ever want to watch the NFL?

The NAT's walked off the field, straight to the locker room.

I have been to only one Cub's game at Wrigley. The Big Red Machine was in town. After the game, as I was leaving at ground level I noticed a crowd of guys milling around. Suddenly they started shouting profanities and jeers. They had been waiting for Pete Rose to walk the elevated catwalk from the dugout to the locker and there he was. Charlie Hustle gave it back to them: "Fuck you! Fuck you!" he shouted while giving the finger. I can see it like yesterday, but it was about 45 years ago.

As a Nats fan, I can only say this game typified the season they're having. When they stink, they stink. When they're terrific, they still stink.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

I caught the 8th and 9th live, it was epic. My wife is a huge cubs fan and she couldn't watch it, her stomach was in knots.

I told her to hang on and said "come on kid get hit by lightning" to Bode next pitch was a game ender. It was surreal

I remember the Kirk HR like yesterday. My 38 y/o son was 8. Laying on couch, we both went crazy after HR. It was a magic moment. Thanks for the memory.

The ultimate dream scenario of every kid who's ever played the game.

Who hasn't muttered the scenario: 9th inning, two down, two strikes, base loaded.... Cool

That was amazing. Gibson was so crippled up with injuries he could barely walk let alone run.

I still get goose bumps.

I gotta wonder if they got Bote this ball , and how much the fan charged them for it

Yes sir, watched it live on TV. It was a great night for Mr. Bote, made even better by the fact he's only on the roster to fill in for the Cub's superstar Chris Bryant while he rehabs from an injury. Love to see such plays occur for the new/young guys who are working to create a career for themselves.

Right now, both the Nationals and Dodgers are snake bit. The Nat have been crushed with walk-off hits and the Dodger's bullpen has collapsed in 4-straight games, with 3 blown saves.
