I don’t know anything about submarines but do we have the capabilities to hit something 6000 miles away?

That website, my goodness. They never bother to proofread their stuff. On the handful of times I've visited that site, it always has grammatical and spelling errors. You know whatever, but it certainly cuts into their credibility.

Our boomers can reach that and then some.

We have better, much better.

However, it's not the plane, it's the pilot's ability to exploit fully the capability of the machine.

Our military machine is the best, but the leadership that "pilots" the machine... well, that is what should keep you awake at night.

The concern of the Soviet's "mini sub" with a large yield thermonuclear warhead that can travel (supposedly) 100 knots and 6 thousand miles, is what a lot of folks are yammering about.

Thing is, if we ever get in a dance with them to the point that something like that is even employed, it's gonna be a hard rain already falling.

I am not worrying over it. Not a single bit.

Anymore than I worry about some great cataclysmic event, like the sun spitting a gazillion tons of ejected material directly at us, some asteroid NASA and Company misses, or slipping in the shower.

Now, a bad egg salad sammich, that would just suck to die to that...

The “reported” speed of a MK48 MK1 torpedo is 63mph……

Supercavitating underwater rockets which travel in excess of 300kts have been speculated about for at least a couple decades in fiction novels, so there might be some truth to them. It's not unreasonable to think that torpedo technology has progressed at least to reach speeds described in the article, especially given how large those torpedo tubes appear to be. Whether they're actually nuclear-powered is anyone's guess. Seems overly complicated but would address the longevity of their alleged travel time.

I wonder what the over/under odds are that it blows up and sinks in the first thirty days of operations.

The Russkies have always had this weird need to feel like they are FIRST and the BIGGEST and all that, it’s such a strange psychology with them.

Wasn’t it speculated that the Kursk????? Sunk due to a failure of a weapon such as this? Maybe not the Kursk but I thought they lost one of for this reason.

You might be remembering the Kursk correctly and incorrectly, in that it was due to an accident involving an exploding torpedo; however, it wasn't a supercavitating torpedo.

Not to worry, we have Tic Tac's that can fly into and underwater, buzz Russian subs then reappear in the sky as UFO's....

That site is awful, its pretty much click-bait with just an ounce of information. Very little content that isn't known, but heavily saturated with adverts.

As for the Belgorad, Losharik, Shelf, Status-6, etc... I'm not worried. The Soviets, now Russians, are known for putting out all sorts of fantastical machines and devices. The reality is that rarely do they ever work, the quality and attention to detail necessary is never there, funding always comes up short and the level of maintenance (again, attention to detail) necessary never happens. Their Navy is chock-full of one-off's which screw up logistics nd maintenance. The Status-6 is interesting however, its ability to work...color me skeptical.

Jive Turkey always has straight scoop and solid info when it comes to subs

Couple things to consider here……

Russia announces things as propaganda to get people worried

By the time we hear the US Military is capable of something we are already 2-3 generations of technology past what we just heard about
