Does anybody use a Pelican style case for a laptop? Login/Join

I am thinking I want to get one for our mobile editing workstations and I’m wondering how big it should be to work in the real world…

I’d like it to carry the Dell Precision 7550 with power supply plus some extras… A large pair of Sony headphones, Bluetooth mouse, and a relatively large external hard drive (measures roughly 8.5x5x2).

Any leads based on experience?

Just returned a vendor unit today. Don't have the case specs, but it was a tight fit for the computer charger, with padding for shipping.
Definitely a lot bulkier than any laptop bag, about the equivalent of 3 generic cases/bags.

Are you trying to ship it around or is this something the assigned owner of the laptop will carry?

I work for a live events A/V company and we send laptops to every job in pelicans, but these are put on semi trucks so the case is a bit larger to protect it in that environment. Pelican has a few offerings in the 1400 series for laptop cases but we use a larger size so we are able to store a power supply, mouse, and a bag of cables and adaptors in the case as well as getting extra protection. We don’t have any problems with shipping damage.

If you are interested I can get the exact case number Monday when we have people in the shop.

Not for shipping, just maximum protection. I admit that it is over-engineered for the use but I prefer to start at the extreme end and then consider downward from there, if that makes sense.

I would appreciate the models when you have time to facilitate their retrieval. Thanks!

Pale Horse, would you mind an email from me about the live events business??

Yeah absolutely, I’m happy to help if I can. My email is in my profile.

I've used a Pelican "Briefcase" for over twenty five years. No problems. The farm pulls back for papers and things. It is also lockable. I've also carried handcuffs to lock it to something fixed in a hotel room.
Cheers

Don't. drink & drive, don't even putt.
