r0gueStaying near Philly one night -- Malvern PA Safe?
Dropping my son off at college in Philly. Need a hotel
near Philly, but I don't want to pay $400 a night to be
in the city. I figured we'd get him squared away, have dinner somewhere, and then roll out kind of late, going maybe 30-40 minutes, then stop and stay the night. It's about 5.5-6 hours back to my home town in far Western PA.
I found a Holiday Inn Express in Malvern which is a reasonably close spot. Is that a decent enough area to be safe parking at the hotel and staying the night? Holiday Inn Express Frazer-Malvern
I'm open to other suggestions. I'm not super price sensitive, so +/- is not a huge big deal, but again, $400/$500 is not my bag. I prioritize safe, and then clean and new over fancy. Could care less about fancy compared to clean and newer. Or at least, clean.

Malvern is an upper-income community. Vanguard is headquartered there.

Malvern crime rate 14.
Compare to Philly @ 553.
Don't know how clean the hotel is though.

sgalczynI work in Malvern.....your worst threat will be the abundance of Tesla drivers. Good to go otherwise. And you can jump back on the Turnpike home from there.

preten2bYes, Malvern is pretty good. Haven't scouted hotels there but after looking at reviews, if you need more choices there are similar places to stay between there and the Exton/Lionville areas, just a few miles west.

DennisMMalvern is solidly the 'burbs. You should be fine. If you're dropping off on a weekend, the traffic in/out won't be horrible.

PASigMalvern is a wealthy area and quite safe. Part of the Main Line of Pennsylvania which is a string of towns leading into Philadelphia formerly only occupied by the very rich in mansions in the 1800’s.
A cool place with great breakfast sandwiches and pastries, coffee etc is the Malvern Buttery:
