You can use a semi-automatic weapon to defend against Tyranny?

"...the Right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". I don't see anything about gun type in there. Gee, I wonder why. Nadler's not stupid, he's just an asshole.

The look on his face and the tone of his voice in questioning tells me that Nadler honestly did not know.

He seemed to be asking a serious question.
He even allowed extra time to have it explained to him.

quote:
Gingrich touches on something many, many people fail to understand about the Second Amendment- it's in the wording of the amendment itself. The Second Amendment does not say, "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the people shall be granted the right keep and bear arms." Instead, it says "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." This means that the Second Amendment acknowledges the right to keep and bear arms as an existing right. The Second Amendment merely affirms the existence of this right. The right to keep and bear arms is one of the "unalienable rights" alluded to in the Declaration of Independence- "...that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights".
The Declaration of Independence enumerates certain rights- "...among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness," but these three rights are not the only ones. The right to keep and bear arms is one of these "unalienable rights" because the keeping and bearing of arms protects the life and liberty of the people.

Nadler is knowingly trying to be obtuse.
The Left's tactic these days is that the mere idea of using YOUR firearm to shoot ANOTHER American, particularly a LEO or, solider, is unfathomable. This gets framed around the events of 1/6/21 and is set-up that if you merely having such thoughts, you then need to be watched and should be labeled: an insurgent, a insurrectionist, a rebel.

For the 1000th time, why don’t we have intelligence, critical thinking and knowledge tests to become a politician?

The average joe is expected to be familiar with the irrational, unintuitive ever changing laws that infringe upon our natural rights yet these people don’t understand the simple basis behind the 2A?

I'm truly at a loss for words.

Answer: I would use my semi auto against tyrants. Btw, the tyrants possess full auto and more advanced weaponry.

Well mr Nadler, if troops are attempting to violate my constitutional rights and infringe on them, thereby violating their oath to defend the constitution, they are no longer “troops”; they are the enemy. Specifically, domestic enemies.

He’s from Texas. I’m sure he was thinking it. But the rules say they can’t disparage other members and aren’t allowed to incite violence. But Roy knew what to say.

The reason people become politicians is because in general they’re not qualified to pick up garbage. There are exceptions to every rule but a Nadler and his ilk prove the rule.

Roy wouldn't have been inciting violence, he would have been providing a specific answer to the specific question asked.

It was a very thoughtful and respectful response, and Nadler did appear willing to let him speak. OTOH, Nadler has about as much understanding of the Constitution and how our government was set up to run as my tomcat.

Great job, Rep. Roy! So pleased to have you as a Texas Representative.
