My good friend, Mike Wood, asked me for a review of my new 3" 629 Talo for RG. I couldn't resist that. Celebrating the 3" N-frame

Awesome! Love that site. Haven't read your article yet but wanted to say that. (Will read asap.) ETA: Read it at 3:35 est. Some nice prose there, sir. I love my 66-4 2.5" but would probably like the 3 even better- they are hidden around these parts though! Thanks for sharing and COOL to write for a neat place like that. I "found" it through a nerdy podcast that had Justin as a guest. It went from there. Awesome! This message has been edited. Very nice article I have been a fan of the BIG Bore snubby going back to the days when you had to get a Austin Behlert or John Jovino to make you one because Smith and Wesson did not yet offer them Warren, is the 610 mentioned in the article a 3" ? ------------------------------------------------------------------ NRA Benefactor . . . Very nice article, there's just something cool about a big bore shorty. Great guns, and thanks for the nice review. I have the 4" 629, and would love to have a shorter one, or the 329 Night Guard. I'm sure blast and recoil would be impressive in that gun, but I imagine it would be tolerable with moderate .44 mag loads (1150 fps or so) rather than the full house stuff. Here's my 4". I'D love to find some of those wood stocks to dress mine up, of course, then I'd have to spring for a fancy holster from Ryan Grizzle, and a matching fancy speed loader pouch, and, and, and... I read the article. I bought one of those 3" Model 24s when they came out. I never saw one in a store, but the distributer, Lew Horton, had an ad in Shotgun News. I had a local dealer order me one. I still have the gun and the ad. I have never decided if I like the 3" Model 24 or my 3&1/2" Model 27 better. Excellent article, but it makes me feel old.

stunning photos, thanks!!! Until a few years ago, I had concurrently, 629-1 8 3/8'; 629-5 4"; and 629-4 3"; it was a pleasure to choose from the fleet and to discover just how ~I~ was able to bring them to target. Marvelous designs & execution of fine metal work IMHO. **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

Yes. Tell them you heard about them from my article. They're nice folks running a mom-n-pop shop.

Nice article and pictures. I carry a Rossi M720 in a cross draw holster in the waist band. Works well when riding in a vehicle. My favorite barrel length is 5 inches since it is optimized for long range shooting by elevating the front sight. 41

Good article with great photos. I don't have any N Frames, mostly J, K, L frames through the years. I am picking up a new Model 19 K Comp.....it may become one of my EDC pistols in spring, fall, and winter. My .357 revolver loads are usually Corbon .38 +P loaded and then speed strip or speed loader or two or three of .357 and additional Corbon 38 +P.

I too have an affinity for 3-inch N frames, or in the case of one of these, 2.5 inches of badassness.
