Make America Great Again |
Just curious if anyone else has the same model Jetta, and if so, what kind of mileage you get? Personally, with mine at just over 92K, I easily pull 26+ MPG around town... and substantially more on the highway (don't have a good number because I've never done a full tank on the highway). For me, and for a car I only gave $3,400.00 for, I am SUPER happy with that! It equals much more expensive and modern cars. Just wondering if anyone else has the same model and can report in? Thanks! _____________________________ Bill R. North Alabama

A quick looks at Fuelly.com shows 107 2.5 I5 Jettas. Average MPG of 25.33 over 1,936,786 miles; with a 0.13MPG margin of error. Fueleconomy.gov shows it at 26 avg with 24/31 city/hwy Looks like you're on the better side of average. The Enemy's gate is down.

This is in no way a knock on you or a negative vibe, but I'm fascinated by the variety of driving habits we have on the forum. I can't imagine not having driven a whole tank on the highway. Another member, bought a brand new vehicle and put 250 miles on it in the first two months. At that rate, he'll be past the break in period in six months. When I bought my truck, I had 1,000 miles on it the second day. I wish I had my 2004 Golf Diesel. I got 35 mpg all day long and drove it like I stole it. For a gas motor, I'd say 26mpg around town is really good. My Focus ST could probably get close, but not with me driving it.

That seems reasonable for that size of car and engine, maybe a little better than average. I'm not a VW fan, however, the 2.5 normally aspirated five is one of their better engines. Ignition coils do seem to be a weak point.

I have a 2006 and it's strictly a highway commuter. I get about 33-35 mpg. After spending a metric shit ton of time getting this thing roadworthy it has turned into a great daily driver for me. I'm giving it to my niece in a few months though then I'll probably be in the market for another one.

I had a 2008 Rabbit (Golf) for 9 years with that engine, and I could barely hit 29mpg on the hwy. I had to drive it like grandma to get decent MPG. It was a 5spd. On average I would get 22-24mpg driving to work and around town. The engine is a tough cookie - it will last a long time if you treat it right. -------------------- I like Sigs and HK's, and maybe Glocks

I just bought a 2019 Jetta SE a few weeks ago. I do a good mix of all kinds of driving and have averaged 31-33 mpg with 87 octane.
