Summit Tea and Spice in Anchorage has an artist in resident program for Alaskan artists in their tea room. My girlfriend was invited to display her artwork for the month of November and she in turn invited me to share in her show with some of my photography. So our Friday date night was setting for the show. Never done anything like this before and gotta' admit it is a little intimidating. Also feels a little strange looking around my house at bare walls now.

We finished the setup, locked the doors, looked back and we were feeling rather proud of ourselves.

I think it's really neat when what one considers a hobby is enjoyed by others. And even more so when such appreciation is given a venue for display, thereby honoring the quality of one's work.

What a great thing, Z!

That’s pretty awesome. Congratulations on your first showing. I hope it goes well and you get great feedback. Would be pretty cool to sell some of them too.

As you should. Getting it done is hard enough, getting it out there is a major step and a firm nod of acceptance by strangers.

Congratulations.

What a great feeling to have your work displayed for others to see! Congratulations.

Have you decided on a name for your photography company?

We bought our daughter in law a gift card for her birthday to Summit Tea and Spice.

How long will your work be displayed there?

Very cool! Is it simply for display, or also for sale?

Still kicking around names. Since this is her show, I kind of keyed off of her. She goes by Carolyn Reinsell, Artist at Heart. I went with Frank Miller, Photographer at Wild. Matched styles, colors and fonts on price tags and bios. She had a stylized water color of her dog in the Northern Lights on hers, I used her water color of my dog on mine.

I'm probably going to go with my name and then a byline in the end. Something like, Frank Miller Outlaw Photography or Frank Miller Wandering Star Photography

It's going to be up for the month of November. We're going to try and have an open house this coming Saturday afternoon.

It is for sale as well. Reality check for me was calculating pricing to cover printing, framing and matting. It's not cheap. I think one of the lessons from this is to also have smaller sizes for sale.
