For a solid door you want at least one screw in each of the top and middle hinges (jamb side) long enough to go into the jack stud so the door doesn't sag over time mis-aligning the bolt and strike plate.

We use golf tees with wood glue. Glue the tip tap it in with a hammer use a chisel cut the head off or use a utility knife to cut the head off.
