vinnybassDuct tape alone can't fix everything
Man! I'd say you're getting your money's worth.
Good find for twenty bucks.

PrefontaineGet a new one with the plastic deck or whatever the stuff is. I have a Honda motor with the non-metal deck, bought 16 years ago, still runs flawlessly and cosmetically it's 90%. And it's been through hell and back as I have a large yard.

Honda calls it "Nexite", but yeah, it's a really durable polymer. And it's great. Not only is it rustproof, but clippings hardly stick to it, and it has a lifetime warranty. Even better than aluminum, the other common rustproof deck option.

Thanks to every one concerned. A different deck was the the best choice. I found a good deck with the same 3 bolt Honda pattern for $20 so I went for it. I had to do some modifications on the handles and drill a few new holes, but here is my new push mower.
Excellent! I love keeping old equipment working. Too much "throw away culture" these days. Make sure you scrape and hose the underside more frequently this time!

hberttmankI am sure they are making much better decks these days and if the motor goes out before I do, I'll get a new one, but no more than I have to use this I just didn't see spending the money now.

kramdenKeep the underneath side of the deck scraped clean every so often and the won't rust so bad. Especially need to be scraped before winter storage.
