I've seen the damage while hunting and I don't see a solution. mrvmax's comment about capturing entire sounders seems the only way, as long as you don't have to deal with stupid people demanding relocation - yet another example of extreme stupidity. I went pig hunting a few times but didn't connect, but it's not surprising, walking into the woods without a working plan is pretty useless, esp. for those guys.

Early Hawaiian settlers from the South Pacific brought their pigs with them. They do fierce damage to forest floors, rooting up the dirt. I never hunted them; but I had a patient a couple of weeks after his heart surgery (!!) bring in a photo of him with a 250 pound boar he shot on Moloka'i. I had some interesting patients there, now that I start thinking about it. One was a champion rodeo rider (a huge thing on Maui), who also did drag racing of motorcycles.
