ulstermanSecret Santa
Local lady has had a horrible year. Husband passed, medical bills, roof leaks, car broke down, appliances blew up and it keeps going.
She got called into work early today and Santa's elves descended on her home.
Local car dealer sent over their mobile repair truck. Roofing company, appliance store, electricians, plumbers, etc. County happened by with left over gravel from another job and dumped it in the driveway. City was working around the corner and rolled it.
Overdue school fees and lunches were paid.
She had a couple of warrants for unpaid tickets. Her fines were paid. Judge even left a job application at her home.
Presents and a Christmas Tree appeared.
One of the elves was across the street when they came home. Sitting on a porch with an 80 year old Marine.
Looked over at him:
"You crying?"
"No, it's the fucking dust. Marines don't cry"
"Merry Christmas Marine"
"Merry Christmas Navy"

ulstermanIt's how you are supposed to act towards one another.
I was off for an extended period with an on the job injury. Bills weren't getting paid and were were close to getting the power turned off.
Then one month, the over due notices stopped and they were paid in advance. The only thing said was "It was your turn. Remember what happened".
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause. There are still good people. They will continue to be good no matter what.

Rey HRHGood story. Especially before Christmas.
I can't imagine the impact on the person. I sure hope it lifts their spirits through the whole next year at least if not beyond.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

She called the lady who normally picks her up in a panic because she was late.

ulstermanYou can call it paying it forward or paying it back or what ever. Everyone needs to pay it.
If it's just holding a door or helping someone with a flat tire, pay it.
And don't get pissed off because you weren't thanked. If you do, you are doing it for the wrong reason.
