Had to call Sig CS today regarding some back order stuff and inquired about the MPX gen 2 upper and still no time frame. I was however told that a new charging handle to fix the current issues should be out in 3 weeks or so.

American Rifleman hit my inbox this morning, and they're highlighting this article and video of the MPX:

Article: http://www.americanrifleman.or...look-at-the-sig-mpx/

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ8j0X1RS2U

The video was uploaded on Aug 13th of this year (less than a week ago), but there are some interesting quotes from the on-camera Sig rep (Dave Brimshaw, Product Mgr at Sig Special Weapons Group):

3:08 "Barrel change is very simple, it's... it's on a user level."

3:21 "It's very configurable, again with the caliber changes..."

Again, if someone goes out and buys an MPX today, hoping for "caliber changes" on a "user level," they are going to be dissapointed.

There's actually a lot of odd stuff in the video. The Product Manager seems to imply that 6.5" is the standard bbl length, he doesn't even mention 8", but all MPXs that have shipped commercially so far are 8" bbls and I've heard no mention of 6.5" for at least a year. As far as I know, 8" and 4.5" are the only near-future forseeable configurations (at least until SHOT 2016).

Also, the MPX Carbine is an 16" bbl with 8" of overbore. So, again, don't know where the 6.5" figure keeps coming from.

I was wondering about some of that. The text that accompanies the video says that this video is from 2013. So it explains why pretty much all the info is incorrect.

The beginning part of that video might have been new, but the MPX part of the video is very old. I saw that over a year ago if not longer. If you look at the MPX itself on the left side, it doesn't have the steel cam pin insert, so that was an earlier prototype.

Note to SIG: THIS is how you treat your customers when you discover a design flaw in the first version of your product.

Are there any reports/guesses at what price the MPX-K version will go for?

LDD, correct me if I am wrong, but the LE-only MPX-SD comes with a 6.5" barrel onto which the suppressor is mounted. At least that it what Sig says on their site:

http://www.sigsauer.com/Catalo...ails/sig-mpx-sd.aspx

The Sig site also says that the LE/Govt only pistol comes with a 6.5" barrel:

http://www.sigsauer.com/Catalo...tails/sig-mpx-p.aspx

But you are correct, no 6.5" barrel has shipped for the civilian market.

Possible, but anything with regard to the SD is going to be old info, so can't be sure. Never saw the SD in real life, it wasn't discussed at all the last time I talked to SIG about soon-to-be-released models.

Also: no reason why civilians shouldn't be able to buy the SD if they can buy MPX SBRs (which they can), other than maybe SIG doesn't want to sell the can to civilians on account of it not having provision for a neilsen device. I suspect that there will eventually be a civilian-purchasable SD model when SIG's suppressor line becomes more fleshed out.

I've actually made the point to two high-ranking SIG employees that the current lineup of non-SIG suppressors doesn't really make the best use of the voluminous internal diameter of the MPX's handguard and that SIG would benefit from offering their own MPX specific fat-and-short can to go with the gun, especially once they start offering handguards of different lengths.

Thanks. Sent in the eFile Form 1 Monday. Also put in an order for a SilencerCo Octane 45. It's looking like Christmas time before one, or hopefully both, get approved

Called Sig CS, placed the order for the 3 Mag Promo, collapsible stock, and the Carry Bag. Was told 4 weeks for the magazines/bag and the collapsible stock is "Heavily Back Ordered" with an 8-12 week wait. Ha, hoping for Christmas for the stock as well, might be perfect timing for the 2 satamps, and the stock

To those that called Sig CS to order the promo deal on the magazine and ordered the collapsible stock, how long before they emailed you the confirmation/receipt? I was told by the end of day I should have an email, and I have yet to receive one. I havent ordered anything from their CS before, so they jad to create an account over the phone. Just wondering, thanks

Thanks.

All this talk about Sig's CS quality had me wondering if I needed to do a follow up call in the morning.
