LOL.....Sorry. I think your childhood home was very big and beautiful and a shame they let it get so run down and mowed it down.......

Hold on to the memories and pass them down. It sure looked like it had some great woodwork. The massive doors are a telltale sign of a grandiose history. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

I see that someone salvaged some stuff from the home. Can you get in contact with them, and maybe use something in your home now? Marble from the floor for marble around your fireplace? Wood railings? Doors? Something... It would be nice to point to and say "That came from my childhood home in Syracuse NY." ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. My sister got the twin front doors (each 88" x 29"). Sadly one has a crack in the lower right of the beveled glass. And the other shows some dry rot on the bottom edge. The huge indoor parlor partition doors are in great shape (pictured in an earlier post) but simply way too big and heavy for any of the local family. That said I'm sure someone will get them and put them to good use. The marble floors and fireplaces were all striped by that NY City "exploiter." But the Land Bank is saving some bricks for us to have as souvenirs.
Indeed that is being done. Of all the extended family, my 95 year old mother and I are the only ones living who were domiciled in that home. Her from age 11 to 25 and me from 0 to 3. And sadly of all the grandchildren I'm the only one with any memories of our grandfather as he passed in 1950 before any of the others were born. Of course many visited and played there in succeeding years. Me especially.
