In old (as in last year tax forms), anything requiring figuring recapture amounts, gains, passive income, and especially like-kind exchanges. Oh, and partnership returns.

And for the Op, TurboTax.

Been happy with Turbo Tax for about ten years. My only complaint is that it it hard to simply ask a question if something doesn't make sense or if your situation is a little different from the norm.

I have used turbo tax for several years. Makes it easy every year as they have my history from last year, so I don’t have to enter as well.

Definitely turbo tax. Your situation is as simple as it gets and you can be done in 30 minutes and save a bunch of money.

My situation is much more complicated and I've done them myself with turbotax for as long as I can remember and did them by hand prior to that. It is not difficult at all and turbo tax will walk you through everything.

I started using an accountant back when I had 2 rental properties and a side business as well as some cash investments.

He never charged quite that much. Now it's just my investments SS and wife's job. Runs about $150 bucks. It's the biggest firm in the county and if audited the guy goes with you on his dime and pays for any errors or fees attributed to them.

Worth it to me. I just pile the reports in a pile and drop them off to him when I think I have everything. Get a nice neat package back in about 3 to 5 weeks. Federal and State.

Collecting dust.
