2008 Honda RL 67k most always garaged, white with tan interior. Just noticed the headliner is dropping over the backseat. I Cannot see the sag while driving and seldom use rear seat but it has to be fixed.

Got an estimate today from a pro - $595. Sunroof makes it a little more costly. I checked the Ridgeline forum and saggy headliners was a top of the page 7 page thread. Installer said Hondas and VWs were worst, the fabric looks new but there is a foam backing that deteriorates.

My buddy bought his first brand new car, an 08 Civic.
The entire headliner fell on him during the drive home. Warranty covered it.

That's cheaper than my daughter's CRV, it's over $1,000. I'd tear it out and spray in Line-X first.

Had this issue in other vehicles. Regluing often fails. It’s like the foam is disintegrating. New materials are likely needed.

Same problem with my Ridgeline. I lived with it as it only drooped a little and nobody ever rode there anyway.

My wife hit the garage door while backing out and broke the 3rd brake light assembly on our Titan.

Light assembly was $237
Install (dropping the headliner to get to the bolts)... $380

I had to replace a drooping headliner in my Dodge Ram pickup. A friend of mine that owned a body shop recommended that I go to the fabric store and buy new headliner material. He also recommended buying 3M spray adhesive. I removed the old headliner and all of the foam residue, sprayed the glue and applied the new material. It was easy and lasted for many years.

Sucks but part of maintenance and wouldn’t be unexpected on any make, that is 15 years old. Pay the fiddler, move on. It’s cheaper than powertrain or drivetrain issues. I had a 2006 Ridgeline RTL AWD and currently have a 2019 RTL AWD that I plan on keeping permanently. When it’s 15 years old (I average the same mileage as yours as it’s a weekend vehicle, and tow vehicle only, not for daily use) and the only thing wrong with it is a new headliner required, I’m going to be quite pleased.

Same problem with my Ridgeline, great otherwise.

Are you using an auto/boat upholstery shop for the repairs?

Back in high school we used thumb tacks on a friends head liner. you can do your own version of diamond tuck if its loose enough.

Just an idea if it begins to block your view.

had a friend (RIP) that ran an upholstery shop for years, he made a fortune on headliners,


they are relatively easy to do,
remove enough trim and dome lights etc,
drop the tray the foam backed fabric is attached to,

pull it off, then take a stiff brush and clean off the foam that is left,
spray the new fabric with 3M adheasive, spray the tray, let it get tacky and put them together,

wrap the ends over and wait a minute and install ,

used to hang around his shop sometimes in the mid 90's when he would have his helper do one in less than an hour at $200 or more,

yes, I've been to his business and seen work in progress. He is a pro with years of experience/stellar reputation. Probably a little higher price but he impressed me. One more guy to talk to next week and then get it fixed.

I had one done in Fl years back and they did sun visors. Mine in RL look fine, so does sun roof for that matter but sr is probably like a water pump - it's already tore down, might as well replace it.
