Gonna be fun

Wondering who I’d going to be the first to leave?

Wonder which agency will loose employees the fastest - police or fire.

This could be a real gift for the Republican Party in the midterms.
The mayors proposals are the prototype of what the liberal Democrats want and in a year plus, the effects on a major city will be obvious and hard to ignore.

This is gonna sound weird but when I was in HS, a friend who was a devout christian mentioned some predication (nostradamus?) where a guy in the NY area wearing a blue turban would trigger a world war or apocalypse. If this guy shows up someday wearing a blue turban, I may just start partying like it's 1999.

Wait... Mamdani said: "We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism"

He's going to accomplish this in a city full of people who would step on your face if you fell in front of them, don't give a damn about the person walking next to them, and are commonly known by the phrases "Whad da fuck you lookin'at?" and "get da fuck outta 'ere".

These are the people that he is magically going to turn into a utopia of warmth, harmony and collectivism?

Is he talking about the same warm collectivism that killed over 100 million people during the 20th century? Hmm..yeah that sure does sound better than the awful cold individualism that created the world’s most prosperous nation.

Yes, that same warm collectivism ...

The funny thing is that NYC has been as socialist as possible ever since Giuliani and even Bloomberg. So he's going to solve the problems of socialism with more real socialism.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Could be satire, but I just read two articles claiming DeNiro is quietly leaving New York because he can’t afford the taxes that are coming.

They should make a law - if you voted for him, you must remain living in NYC for the duration of his term. FAFO.

Interesting and informative piece on Commie Mamadani's plans to seize private property, for the 'Greater good', of course.

"The End Of Private Housing In NYC – Welcome To The Revolution"

https://andmagazine.substack.c...ivate-housing-in-nyc

Last paragraph -

"Weaver (Cea Weaver, Mamdani’s new Director of the Office to Protect Tenants) envisions exactly what Mamdani has prescribed, the end of housing as private property. Homes and apartment buildings will no longer belong to any individual or corporation. They will belong to the state. One presumes this will be only the first step on the road to the state taking control of everything else. Welcome to the revolution."

I'm curious is HOW they will take private property in New York City?
And how the state will take possession?
Only the state government can regulate this, right?

Do the tactics that are described / explained in the article above have legal merit, ScreamingCockatoo?

I can envision several tactics which might survive legal challenge. Increase property taxes on housing. Put an annual surcharge onto rents paid or received. Some form of punitive rent control could be enacted. A steep sales tax on the sale of housing.

Then the city could buy the properties at a large discount from the prior fair market value, as now nobody would want to pay full price. The city could float bonds to pay for the acquisitions.

Perhaps offer very low rents for city owned properties (which would certainly be structured to favor certain demographics while punishing others). This would remove demand to rent privately owned buildings, further starving owners for income.

I don't believe outright confiscation with little compensation would survive legal challenges.

The COPA law NYC recently passed is the first step.
It's not going to be worth it to own property for renting.

New York, among others, are morally decayed/lost states. Their governor is now praising muslims and even changing the color of one World Trade Center's lights, be made green in celebration of their new regime. How sick and morally bankrupt can they get?

I hate to think how things will turn in the future as we get closer and closer to the Beast making an appearance. I can understand how people will welcome and praise him and their inevitable damnation.

But wait!, there’s more!!

“Mamdani defends eliminating executive orders on antisemitism, boycotting Israel”

https://www.politico.com/news/...ting-israel-00709472

First two para’s -

“NEW YORK — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, after nixing a pair of executive orders that dealt with antisemitism and boycotting Israel, defended his actions amid fallout that has included sharp criticism from the Israeli government and concerns from local Jewish groups.

As one of his first acts as mayor, Mamdani declined to renew two executive orders signed by former Mayor Eric Adams: One that adopted a broad definition of antisemitism and another that prohibited city employees from engaging in the boycott, divest and sanctions movement against Israel.“

SMH. Very rough times ahead for NYC.

He can try whatever he wants Bankruptcy Court is a Federal Court, and subject to Federal Law and regulations. More empty promises of free stuff. Just like no port a potty at his block party or free food, the sheep will follow and applaud every action, but he won't be able to deliver.
