Someone with great wisdom on this forum stated that one does not upgrade a Toyota 4Runner to a Jeep Grand Cherokee, one simple upgrades to a bigger, badder 4Runner. Well that's what the wife ended up doing today, trading her SR5 4 Runner for a TRD Off-Road "Premium".

This has got the optional KDSS suspension and so far, I'm really impressed with the ride and handling and it hasn't even left pavement yet. Much more controlled ride and flatter cornering. We drove a TRD Off Road without it, a Limited and this one and she decided this was the one she wanted even though she was really missing some of the cush of the Limited.

I'm just glad her car shopping safari is over. I'm also happy with the dealership, Right Toyota. Painless buying experience. Also impressed with how her previous 4Runner held resale value.

Gorgeous vehicle.

What tires do you plan on upgrading to?

Very nice. I really like the current 4Runner. If I was in the market for a such a vehicle it would be top of my list.

When the time comes, BFG All-Terrains. I was amazed the OEM Bridgestones wore like they did. She traded it in with 45K miles on it and they were still fine. Unfortunately this one came with Dunlops.

My friend got one just like it. He's really impressed with it's offroad abilities, and this is a guy who has had a FJ40, an 80 series, and a 60 series Land Cruiser. Great vehicle!

Nice!!!

Recently my final two choices were a new T4ROR or the used LX570. I got the latter and am happy so far but wonder every day if I made the right choice. I just couldn’t swing the additional $10k+ to do it though.

Sweet ride, congratulations. I'm getting one after the first of the year. It will be the last new car I buy.

Nice vehicle but the part I'm most impressed with is the painless buying experience. LOL.

Is that Toyota dealership local to you?

Most of them here in Central Florida just plain suck.

Congrats!

Glad to hear the KDSS helps the ride and handling. Ride and handling were not impressive when I test drove a new 4Runner in 2014, and I went with the Grand Cherokee instead (which I sold soon after due to reliability concerns, different story). I may have to take another look at the 4Runner (with KDSS) when my current BMW lease is up.

Right Toyota is local and located in Scottsdale. Our archery club has a buying agreement with them for members. Members are served by the fleet sales department. There is no negotiation, a fair price is presented and the paperwork process is quick and painless. If a vehicle is purchased through the program, members receive a free 1 year renewal on membership.

Great looking Runner!
I think they're still made in Japan?

I have considered buying one, but I have two Toyota trucks in my garage right now!

Awesome! I have a 2007 4Runner sport and been eyeing the TRD Premium. I bought mine new 10 years ago and has been the best vehicle I ever owned. Nothing wrong with mine at 100k miles, so it is hard to justify it at the moment.

Excellent purchase. I'm 6k miles in on my TRD Off Road Premium and I love it.

I also had a great experience with my purchase, I'm not sure if that was the dealership or if it's me knowing EXACTLY what I want and not fucking about with their typical nonsense.
