"Starbucks is closing one of its Pentagon City locations later this month, according to a sign posted on the door."
"The chain typically closes 50 stores per year, but announced last June it would be shutting down 150 this time.
CEO Kevin Johnson cited expenses from the incident at a Philadelphia store last year when two African American men were arrested while waiting for a friend to show up at their Starbucks.
Former-chariman-turned-presidential-candidate Howard Schultz said the anti-bias training offered to store employees nationwide after the incident went viral cost Starbucks “tens of millions” of dollars."
Maybe the spaces can be converted directly to homeless shelters... to save the occupants the effort of leaving.

It seems that SBUX has no compunction whatsoever about closing stores. I've seen a number around me close. Usually they'll then open another nearby. I take this as them being very willing to play hardball with landlords.
Starbucks coffee isn't expensive, a cup goes from 2 bucks to 2.50 depending on which location I am at. A latte, cappuccino, or other cafe drink is expensive. So their coffee is cheap, but a cup of their candy is expensive.

Read az4783054's post again, he specified "good cup of coffee" and could have ended it there without ever having to go near a Starbucks. Not to mention that my standard for "cheap cup" is closer to $0.25 than $2.50.

Because a lot of people get espresso type drinks at SBUX, which are much more expensive than drip.

Too true!
we have tried their crap "coffee" several times. Mostly on airliners. We finally gave up on it. And the prices I understand they want are ridiculous!
If they closed all their shops it would not bother either of us.

I'd imagine what's getting expensive for Starbucks is the loss in revenue from the Leftist establishments that allow the homeless free reign in their stores as if they're in the park where they are free to piss, shit, and smoke crack at will.

I think it was Schultz' absolutely ridiculous handling of this event is what cost them tens of millions.
Maybe Black Rifle Coffee has opened a Pentagon location.
