Bummer to wreck such an old plane.

Glad no one on the ground died.

Smuggling or flying high most likely.

Looks like they missed the turnoff for 34L and got on Elm Street. ;-)

So any landing you can walk away from isn’t necessarily a good one after all?

Got to be a complete moron to be get those charges IN OREGON. It's pretty much a free-for-all, especially in Jackson County.

Nope. The crashee was a 1947 model -- the first year that the Bonanza was produced for sale. A classic. Although this one was not in original configuration. The news photo shows that a third window had been retrofitted, in the style of the early 1960s models. Also, hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like a one-piece windshield. The early ones had two piece windshields, with a metal strip in the middle.

Better image here showing the two piece windshield.

Doesn’t matter what state or county they were in if they were hauling federal weight and if they crossed state lines.

Yup, that looks like the correct type windshield for that age Bonanza. It was harder to tell in the photo linked to in the original post.

Many owners of early Bonanzas retrofitted the one-piece windshield. I could not really see doing this and kept mine original Replacement windshield for the two-piece were less than $200 per side. The one-piece went for around two thousand.

I'm looking at FlightAware right now. It shows two flights on Saturday, June 8 (two days ago), both in the vicinity of Medford OR.

One at 10:31 am PDT, and the second at 1:54 pm.

Are you looking for the correct tail number? N602BH. At first I thought it was N6028H, but the next-to-last character is B, not 8.

FAA website shows registration "pending."

I used to fly into Medford a lot for the $100 Hamburger run. How you end up on Whittle Avenue and not the runway had to be a chore. Looks like they were on final for Runway 32 and came up short and east of the runway. They were lucky that was a small tree. They got to skip the hospital and go straight to jail. What a waste of a fine classic aircraft.
