vthokyWell, here's an odd tool to try to find!
I saw this on one of our tooling prints recently:
I'm betting Fastenal doesn't have
that!

egregoreThe 65 has to be a typo. Non-metric Allen wrenches (and fractional-sized drill bits) are always in 64th inch increments. 5 divided by 64 is .078, so that part is right.

It is.
I didn't fix it though, wondering how long it will be before anyone in the department notices it again.

My guess it the .078 was there and someone tried to fractionalize it using some calculation and figured 5/65 is closer than 5/64. Or 5 is right next to the 4 on the keyboard so there is that.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Good plan. I think I'll send the newbie "down to the basement" today to look for that.

(Yeah, we don't really have a basement. I'll send him to Maintenance to ask for a key to it, though.)

SPWAMike0317In my drawer of allen wrenches I am certain there is slightly worn 5/64 that will work.
Let me help you out. Which way did you come in? October 21, 2021, 10:56 AM
