Where do these folks store them? Do they have a couple of extra stomachs or something?

Joey Chestnut picked up his 16th Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest win on Tuesday at Coney Island in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, holding off James Webb and Geoffrey Esper in the men’s field.

Chestnut devoured 62 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

He set the record for most hot dogs eaten in 10 minutes with 76 in 2021. He had 63 in last year’s contest.

Chestnut got off to a hot start, eating five hot dogs and buns within the first 30 seconds. With 5 minutes remaining in the contest, Chestnut ate about 40 hot dogs and buns. At one point, he was eating nearly seven hot dogs per minute.

Esper finished in second place with 49 and Webb had 47.

The contest was delayed two hours due to storms moving through the area. It was first thought the event was going to be canceled but the competitors persevered and at the first sight of sun, they got out to the stage and started their journey one glizzy at a time.

Earlier in the day, Miki Sudo secured her ninth victory at the hot dog eating contest. She put down 39.5 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes and narrowly defeated Mayo Ebihara. The Japan native was only six hot dogs and buns behind Sudo with 33.

Sudo made her first appearance at the contest in 2014 and hasn’t lost since, according to the New York Post. She was only forced to take a year off in 2021 because of her pregnancy but she returned in 2022 and knocked off Michelle Lesco at the time.

Sudo came into the event as the third-ranked eater in the world and first among women.

One has to wonder what effect this has on their long-term health. What does it do to your stomach every time you do this?

Bunch of damned foolishness. Roll Eyes But at the same time, it pleases me (in a roundabout fashion) that we live in a country of such plenty.

Watches it on YouTube last night. It was repulsive, which 'd assumed it would be. What surprised me was how athletically proud these guys are.

Hotdogs are nothing, have you seen some of the other things the "professional competative eaters" compete with? Things like eating multiple 1 gallon jugs of mayo, eating it by the handful. Frown

It’s really not eating so much as “inhaling”

They aren’t eating a hotdog like you or me

They all have a technique such as taking the bun and dipping it in water, and then gulping that down whole and then taking the hotdog and inhaling that in a couple of bites.

It’s actually pretty gross.

I’m honestly surprised there hasn’t been deaths over the years of people choking to death doing this. If I eat too fast, I get really really bad hiccups to the point of where I can barely breathe, so I guess this is never in my future! LOL

That is exactly what I was wondering too. I wouldn’t think you just go do this. You have to train and practice for it. Can’t be good on the body.

Yesterday I had two chili cheese hotdogs and I was stuffed. I won’t have a hotdog again until this time next year unless I have a hamburger instead.

Check out the YT channel for BeardMeatsFood. He's in top few in UK, top 20 world wide.

Unlike many of these guys he has a terrific personality and has figured out how to monetize his unique skill other than just in competition.

Link

Just under 3MM subscribers and 2-4MM views per video, putting out one a week on average. That will pay the rent.

By comparison, Joey channel about 250K, under 50-60K views.
