I see nothing wrong with this. The guy is just going around making people happy. Yes he makes a spectacle of it, that then generates more money to one up his last giveaway.

How anyone can be upset about someone who's made it their career to make people happy escapes me. Just be happy there are more happy people because of this guy.

Commies can be such buzz kills.

Especially when that's all he really seems to do with the money. People complain about stuff like this or try to decry the motives, but how many eye surgeries did they pay for?

I stopped arguing with the type that have a problem with such charitable giving. I got tired of hearing, “Well the only reason they’re doing this is because…” insert some ridiculous petty complaint. I don’t care. Some self centered asshole provides meals for people devastated by a natural disaster. Does it to make himself look good. So. What. That food doesn’t taste self centered.

I believe I read somewhere that his YouTube channel, and thus him, has a valuation of around 15 BILLION dollars. With a “B”. For a guy that makes videos and then post them on the internet for kids to watch. Crazy.

He can afford some eye surgeries.

It goes along the same line as that old Margaret Thatcher adage.

These people would be happier if these 1,000 people remained blind as long as it meant that MrBeast didn't get any views of his video or especially made any money off of it.

If it were not for the charity of various church and veterans groups we would still be working on hurricane recovery. Groups would come and stay camping out in the oppressive heat and humidity feeding others and cleaning things up. Some stayed for years. As a consequence our area makes a point of paying that back when needed.

What pisses off the lefties is that he is making money and spending it/giving it away on his own. They think he should be taxed heavily so that most of his money goes to the government so they can distribute it according to their whims. Why pay for eye surgery for 1000 people when we can confiscate money from all the wealthy people and give universal healthcare so that everyone can get eye surgeries for "free?" The idea of private charity has always pissed off liberals (which is why they give so much less than the right) because government is the only "charity" they recognize.

I'd say so - 131M subscribers is Mega status.
I've never heard of him but appears to be bigtime.

It took a little work but I think this is the video, correct?

I don’t think it’s quite half but the problem folks are quite vocal and delusional. The good folks of the world have been far too kind to them for far too long.

I'd seen Mr Beast's name pop up in my suggested videos before, but there are only so many topics and so many minutes one can devote to watching videos, so I never bothered to watch.

Hell, I didn't even know there were any billionaire or millionaire YouTubers on the platform.

After reading this thread I randomly picked a couple of his shorter videos to watch.

@ 8 minutes

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGNj5lOtNnI

@ 8 minutes

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HR1ig6u9-6A

I could do without his clickbaitey superficial juvenile joke commentary, his videos lack context, and his purple finger-nailed friend is particularly annoying, so I won't waste any more time subbing or regularly watching his videos. When they chose to make fun of a fallen officer's name that pretty much confirmed my opinion of him.

The fact that he has made billions of dollars from other people watching his juvenile videos is a pretty sad commentary on humanity.

Mr Beast and his posse kinda remind me of the Jackass crew and all their stunts, and I couldn't stand them either...

...but, in the end, it's his money, and if he chooses to do some real good with it, things that will truly help people, then maybe he isn't completely irredeemable.

Well said. MrBeast has stated that he will give away every penny of his wealth before he dies... but apparently that's not good enough for the Progressive Marxist Communist Central Planning Big Government Leftists.

Excerpt from the Fox News article (my format and emphasis added in bold.) :

quote:

...

Despite many fans relaying how thoughtful and generous MrBeast’s latest project was, many others grumbled.

"There is something so demonic about this and I can't even articulate what it is," one Twitter user wrote.

In response, author Brandon Bird said, "Because no element of it would happen in a healthy society."

Pushing for universal healthcare, he added, "People would simply get surgery when they needed it, neither misfortune nor acts of kindness wouldn't be paraded for views, and (something I think is being under-remarked upon) you wouldn't need to be megarich to do something good."

Another user commented, "When I give 1000 people a 10-minute surgery that cures their blindness, my YouTube video goes viral, but when I ask why a 10-minute surgery isn't provided to anyone who needs it, they call me a communist."

Another user called the video "Charity porn," adding, "Right at the start of it they say something about how 50% of blindness is curable. Then to see them just dancing around like it's a talk show charity segment infused with the vibe of modern content tailored to our destroyed attention spans feels viscerally wrong."

The negative reaction was enough to prompt the video’s creator to comment on it. On Monday, MrBeast tweeted,
"Twitter - Rich people should help others with their money.

Me - Okay, I’ll use my money to help people and I promise to give away all my money before I die. Every single penny.

Twitter - MrBeast bad."

I wouldn't make to much of the negative replies, it's how this game works, much of the people making these remarks are looking to hook onto his massive popularity and get his millions of subscribers to look at their videos.

Negative comments, well, it's the innerweb, people post them all the time, and they can be rude, nasty as they like because nobody knows who they really are, and you can't get punched in the nose.

It makes them money, that's it, you find a target, you attack it and hope
to make bank using their platform to enhance yours.

Eyeballs and clicks, cha-ching cha-ching

Maybe these people are leftists, a-holes, haters, but in reality
they are just trying to latch on to the biggest story, and he knew
doing this would create the massive negative attacks, and in turn,
that drives more people to know about him as well...

I think he's at the point where it's also an addiction for him. But there are worst addictions to have.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Hard for me to question his motivations when he is helping this many people. Shit, imagine being one of the recipients of this generosity. Life changing. As a cherry on the top I would love to believe it is a selfless act, but don't really care if it isn't. Hopefully it encourages others to do the same, in any way possible, large or small.

That's just one of his many different Youtube channels, and not even his primary one. "MrBeast" is his primary channel: https://www.youtube.com/@MrBeast/videos

You'll notice those videos you watched and posted here were all specifically from his alternate "Beast Reacts" subchannel, which as the name implies, consists entirely of "reaction videos". Reaction videos are basically ultra-low-effort videos made using stream-of-concious running commmentary while watching other videos, mainly consiting of bad jokes and exaggerated facial reactions. They are a particularly annoying subgenre of Youtube video to me, but they have massive popular appeal to a certain younger demographic. So between the super low cost/effort involved and the wide audience they attract, you can see why someone might choose to include them in their repertoire if they're trying to appeal to a mass audience.

Besides his main channel and this reaction subchannel, he then has a bunch of other subchannels that focus solely on stuff like video gaming, or food, or short form content, other alternate content videos. He even has a subchannel dedicated strictly to philanthropy videos: https://www.youtube.com/@BeastPhilanthropy/videos

Now, Mr. Beast's style of content in general isn't for everyone, especially if you're of an older generation since it's very firmly aimed as a younger and less mature audience (who, let's face it, are the ones most likely to be spennding hours every day watching gimmicky Youtube videos).

But my point is you can't realistically judge the entirety of Mr. Beast's content based off just one or two examples of videos all from a very specific subgenre on one specific subchannel dedicated solely to that subgenre.

Nor do I. Even if his motivation is driven entirely by ego, the result is the same- today, there are or will soon be 1000 people who can see more clearly.
