Coming from Bose QC for reference.

Is there a good one set to do it all? Music, phone and range? For range I’m willing to put muffs when I’m not shooting suppressed.

I have been using Apple AirPods Pro for a few years. I swear by them. Sound is really good. Calls, both on my end and the other end is fantastic. Wind noise reduction for people you speak with is fantastic. Noise cancellation is excellent.
My wife has the second generation of the Pro and they’re significantly better than my first gen.

If you use them in the range without muffs, and have on Active Noise Cancellation, they work just fine at stopping the sound, but you’ll destroy the ANC microphone quickly.

I know they’re not rated for being ear pro, but without ANC or music playing, just using as an ear plug, the reports I read show they reduce noise by 21-29 db. That’s equal to the foam plugs I use.

I really like the AirPods Pro II for listening and phone. Instant connection to the iPhone or Mac with no extra steps. I find the sound quality to be as good as any I've tried. They aren't great at blocking loud noises by themselves and the stems might interfere with the fit of muffs, depending on your ear shape.

My go to earbuds are the Beats Fit Pro. ANC is great and they stay put in my ears better than the AirPods Pro due to their hooks.

I really like these Shokz models. I've been wearing the Aeropex (old name), now Openrun Pro model for several years.

They don't go into your ear, they touch against the bones in front and behind and you ears are open to the outside world. They are very comfortable and stay in place.

Excellent battery life and charge quickly. I prefer the Amazon site and find it easier to compare the models there.

Do the Apple Pro models have provision for a lanyard? I was thinking about getting some for my wife, but I'm not convinced that they will stay in her ears, and not fall out.

I've used the Apple Air Pods Pro ear buds for a couple years now. I was skeptical when they said they won't fall out and a bit paranoid as I started wearing them while running, etc.
But I was worried about nothing. I have complete confidence in them now. Hours of walking, running, bike riding, mowing the lawn, etc..., never once have they fallen out.

Aftermarket, offers a case. I learned about it from someone on here. The case has a lanyard attachment.

I have 1 pair of 1st gen Air Pod Pros and a pair of 2nd gens. Agree with above that the 2nd gen is significantly better. I use them all the time. The 1st gens for gym/lifting, anywhere or doing anything where I sweat a lot. I figure if I’m going to ruin a pair, it’s going to be the older ones. The 2nd gens, I use for calls, listening to music, etc. I swear by them as well as I don’t take calls with the phone in my hand nor on speaker. I loathe the phone and the Air Pods make phone anything hands free.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I have AirPods Pro. No lanyard, but they come with four sizes of silicone cups. One of those four pair is nearly certain to produce a good and secure fit. Those silicone cups are soft and comfy.

Just picked up the newest version of Airpods. My old ones finally shit the bed after about eight years and I was in Costco the other day so I picked them up. Haven't tried the new ones out yet, but I was very happy with the old ones.

I've been using Milwaukee's job site earbuds for a few months daily at work.
They go all day on a charge and the charging case battery has enough juice to last all week.
About $200, I wound up buying a second set after the first ones went through the laundry at work, got a spare charger now. Razz

Yeah, I’ve settled on using these with -33dB earplugs. I think they work better with earplugs than they do without.

I’ve also liked the Ally PLUS 2 from Cleer Audio. They sound great.

I went with this. I’m pretty happy with Apple products already. The Costco “special” $215 including Apple Care clinched it for me.

Thanks for everyone’s input. I don’t put much effort into tech, but know many of you do.

I have Bose QC in ear and over ear as well as Apple AirPod and AirPod pro. I think the AirPod pro is best overall.

I currently own bose , Apple pro buds and the Sony WF-1000XM5. The Sony noise cancellation is by far the best of the bunch. The bose are a bit too big. Sony is pricey at about $250 but I use them while flying and they completely cut out the noise.

I've never used noise canceling ear buds. Are they really effective if used on a fairly loud zero turn mower? What I use now, and they are a pain, is cheap wired earbuds with shooters muffs over them. Gets hot and uncomfortable so I seldom use.

The main use my Airpods get is on the lawnmower. Put on some music with the noise cancelling and it's quite pleasant.
