Had a call today and responded to an injured eagle call. Not sure what he was. Either a juvenile bald eagle or a golden eagle? They migrate north this time of year. Any bird guys in the know?
Any way he wasn’t affraid of us at all. We threw a blanket over him and collected him easily enough and took him to animal control until the morning. Then we will hopefully find an animal rehab place for him. This message has been edited. Last edited by: gw3971,

Looks like a sub-adult Bald eagle. Maybe 3 or 4 years old.

Nope. By the time we caught him and turned him over to animal control it was too dark.

I agree with Bald Eagle, but I’m going to say 2-3 max based on size.

Looks like a Juvy bald eagle. We have tons of them around here.
The juveniles also have longer feathers than adults, so they tend to look a little bigger than adults, despite weighing less.
The greyish white feathers around the neck give it away. Around here, Bellingham/Blaine WA area, every other tree has a nest full of fledgelings in in it.
I was at the boat ramp in Blaine last year recovering the boat after a great day limiting out on Dungeness crabs, when i saw a gull try and steal a fish from an adult bald eagle.
The kind of foolish decision rarely repeated! 2 inch talons and 400psi of grip strength, snatched the life right outta that gull.
The result was 3 strange looking, dreadlock equipped young white women standing in a circle around a thrashing, dying seagull. They were crying and screaming for someone to call a veterinarian!
Noone did. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Ken226,

update
The juvenile bald eagle ended up losing his left foot. Vet beleives he was shot. The center claw and the foot became infected. He is gaining strentgh and almost stable enough to be transferred to Utah Department of Wildlife Resources. He will heal with them until he is finally transferred back to the federal government. Ultimately it sounds like he is going end up in a breeding program somewhere in the midwest. Oh, and he is a she.

Animals tend to suffer losses like a foot a lot more easily than humans, so I'm betting she'll be just fine.
Good job all around on this rescue!

This guy (gal?) was standing behind my car in the Walmart parking lot yesterday. Did not want to move. I had to shoo it out of the way so I could back out of my parking slot.
Very bold, walked right up to me and tried to stare me down.

I made a basic prosthetic foot for a chicken once with mixed results. I would think that a professional avianprostheticizer could build a nice one for her.
V-Tail, he knew you just bought some fish sticks and was challenging you for them.
