To the best of my knowledge, code does not specify placement. Some people have the chargers installed on the back wall of the garage, the wall opposite the door. I specified a side wall of the garage, near the door; I charge the vehicle in the driveway. Don't want it in the garage if it decides to burst into flames during charging. The charger cables that I have seen are usually around 24 or 25 feet long. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I’m coming up on 11 years with my EV and 11 years with the charger. When I decided to start parking it outside (I’m not worried about fires, as I think that’s mostly fodder), it was because I bought a performance gas car that I want parked inside the garage instead. I did some research and found an extension cable for any charger. Best Buy sells it. My charger has a very long cord, probably 20 feet but it was kind of a PITA as I’d have to park the EV hatch less than a foot from the rear bumper of my performance car in the garage so it would reach. Said fuck that, ordered the extension cable. I could be parked at the end of the driveway and it would reach now. Enjoy the new ride. The best part is little to no maintenance. What am I doing? A day late, and a dollar short |
Congratulations V-Tail! I personally don't want an EV for various reasons but applaud those who think it will work out for them. ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member

Yes a very nice car! I work indirectly for Cadillac as a product trainer. I drove two Lyrics for about 13 months and put 20K on them together. I drove through Illinois, Indiana and Ohio to the dealerships I am responsible for. I also drove through Kentucky and Tennessee and had zero issues finding a place to charge the car. Best driving car I have ever driven and a lot of luxury touch points in the interior. Well done! “Our actions may be impeded... But there can be no impeding our intentions or our dispositions. Because we can accommodate and adapt. The mind adapts and converts to its own purposes the obstacle to our acting. The impeding to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” ― Marcus Aurelius

Great choice, V-Tail! Our son-in-law and daughter have two Bolts, they bought both used, and with incentives they were very cheap. They have solar panels and Tesla batteries, so cost per mile is zilch. The Lyriq is a great looking car, I’ve admired them seeing them in person. My objection to EV’s is forcing people to buy them, or making taxpayer-incentives so distorting to the market that people make what would otherwise be irrational decisions—particularly in geographic locations where the vehicles don’t make as much sense (cities, cold-weather areas, poor sun exposure). _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Use it in good health, V-Tail! Florida is a great climate for EVs.

Regarding the charger installation, I did one for a friend of mine. This is very easy, providing the panel is a reasonable distance from the charger location. Looked at the area, took some measurements, came back the next weekend with supplies and tools. Did the actual installation in about three hours. A contactor quoted him $3,500. -c1steve
