Brazilian steakhouse in Houston, TX.
I will be going to Houston in a few months. I like Brazilian steakhouses. I live in the Northern Va. area and go to several around me. I see there are a few in Houston that I have never heard of. Does anyone here have any experiences or preference as to which is best? Thanks for any advice.

Several here but the only one I had experience with is FOGO DE CHÃO, a very popular eatery, on probably the busiest street in Houston. Went twice several years ago for family get together. Can’t remember what I ate now (probably steak, being a steak lover that I was), but it was an excellent experience.

Then don’t waste the opportunity to go a local spot in Houston.

I’ve been to several Fogo’s (Philly to RVA); thus far Tysons wins hands down.

Which part of Houston? The metropolitan area is larger than Rhode Island.

Fogo is good, and there are several in Houston.
The Picaña was the best, IIRC. But you only get 5-6 options.

Went to one in the CA, Corona area, and another in Miami [neither was Fogo] and we never saw the same meat option twice.

Harris County is larger than RI. The Greater Houston area, depending on how you define it, is about the size of Massachusetts.

Fogo de Chao is an international chain w/ most of their locations in the US. There are five alone in Greater Houston. I agree w/ Sig2340, that when you're traveling, why not try to hit up places that you can't easily hit up elsewhere?

For a Brazilian steakhouse, I'd recommend Chama Gaúcha, which was started by a Brazilian guy who worked at Fogo for 20 years. Chama & Fogo are two miles apart on the same street, Westheimer Rd.

If you're in or near The Woodlands, Sal e Brasa is supposed to be another top tier Brazilian steakhouse.

Gauchos Do Sul has three locations in Greater Houston (central, west, & NW) and is highly rated but perhaps a slight tick behind the others above. If you're near one, I would give it a chance.

If you like beef, I recommend hitting up a TX BBQ joint. They're not at all fancy, and most of them don't offer dinner service, but the brisket you find at a top TX BBQ joint is better than you'll find anywhere else in the country.

Texas de Brazil is another great choice.

I was in Houston three weeks ago and made it a point to skip chain restaurants. There are a ton of great local spots to choose from.

Not to threadjack, but if you're in Houston and you want the best steak you might ever have, including a trip through Texas history you'll not soon forget, head to the Taste of Texas steakhouse.
