If you are in metropolitan DC area and haven't seen one of these you have to. Last one we did was Star Trek. I had no idea what the soundtrack was never paid attention to it. It's amazing to hear the orchestra play the soundtracks live. Been 20+ years since I've seen E.T. so that will be cool too.

If you happen to be going to the show tonight let me know. I know we got a few Northern Virginians on here.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in Concert National Symphony Orchestra

If you've got nothing to do tonight, I'm sure there's tickets left on the lawn. I piad a bit extra for really good seats.

My wife and I saw Star Wars a couple of months ago with the Utah Symphony. It was cool. My wife isn't much of a Star Wars or Sci-Fi fan, but I think she still had fun. Actually, it was the first time she saw Star Wars in English.

There were actually a few Mystery Science Theater moments with the audience which gave everyone a good laugh each time.

This is a new ploy to draw moviegoers to symphony concerts. Our own SD Symphony and my own San Diego Master Chorale did that recently with a Harry Potter movie. I didn’t take part in that one.
However if you’re in SD August 16-17 you can catch us in a Bayside concert doing Rogers and Hart and Hammerstein broadway pops.

It works. Neither of us were going to symphony concerts before. I loved them. I joked on the way out that I want that sound system for the house. Man it sounded great, especially with out awesome seats. Third row of balcony just off from center stage. Half watched the movie half watched the conductor. It was cool to see E.T. again for the first time since the 80's, fit well with Stranger Things nostalgia going on.

Do they mute the film? Otherwise, wouldn't you also hear the original soundtrack playing against the live orchestra?

They only remove the soundtrack. The voices and other noises/music is left in place.

They orchestra plays the sound track written by multi-award winning composer John Williams.

Very cool. In Denver they've been doing a lot of maintstream music acts with the Colorado Symphony.

I recently attended Tenacious D with the symphony.

I saw Harry Potter and the the Prisoner of Azkaban with the NSO with my daughter when I was stationed in DC. It was a very cool experience, you'll definitely enjoy it.

These are fun to go to. The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra has been doing this for a few years now.
I think it was last year we went to ET in the spring and Home Alone in the Winter.
