is a saint. She is the most supportive woman I have ever met, backs me 100% with everything I do, but isn't afraid to tell me to fuck off when appropriate, she loves animals, was a board member of the Animal legal Defense in law school, is a current volunteer (deputy district 2 leader) with the Humane Society of the United States, plans and executes fundraisers, etc. so I put up with her bringing random animals home Razz

Meet Mom and kitten, our two current fosters as of Saturday, the mom was developing "shelter decline" which means they become catatonic and non-responsive from being in the shelter too long, and the two of them were time-stamped to be euthanized Saturday evening, so Heidi being Heidi, drove two hours to pick them up.

They spent all of Saturday hiding, yesterday they started to warm up to us, and last night they were playing! I'm hoping they become "adoptable" by the middle of next month.

the other three were "foster fails", we agreed we can do more good by making sure we dont keep these guys and rotating more fosters in!

it's amazing, the mom was basically a zombie saturday, this morning she was doing "nose dives" playing with the kitten, rubbing against my legs etc.

My wife has similar sentiments, why we have had as many as 13 cats at one point, and spend more at PetSmart than we do at HEB!

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

She's had "kitten fever" ever since our 19 year old cat died, a few months ago.
We're looking into fostering again, as well.

Nice work!

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

We foster-failed twice, too, and I sincerely hope you succeed in placing these two. Making room for more can tear your heart apart, even when you know damned well you are doing what's best for the animals.

We've been tempted to try again, this time with a dog that needs fostering, but I know what would happen, so...

Be careful. One of them might turn out to be a demon cat, like the one that Paragon palmed off on me.

She (the cat, not Paragon) hid in the closet for about a month and a half, emerging only to eat, drink some water, and use the litter box.

Then when she (the cat, not Paragon) decided it was safe, her true self came out. Rocketing around the house, carrying one of her stuffed toy things while yowling loudly, bounding onto our bed in bowling ball mode at 2:30 am, weaving between my feet trying to throw me off balance and kill me.

Beware of cats!

Actually, I don't. Might be heresy to state, on this forum, that I don't love a cat, but I just really don't care about them one way or another. I don't dislike it, I'm just sort of neutral about all cats. Yes, they are God's creatures, and we should take care of them, and I do, but that's as far as it goes.

I really find that a dog is a much better companion for me than a cat. And that might be why I probably won't have another dog. Tomorrow will be one year from the date that my sweet Corgi girl, Pippi, had her fatal stroke. I still miss her terribly, and I don't want to go through that pain again.

A cat is different (to me). I'll take care of this black demon, make sure that she has what she needs, food, medical attention when she needs it, etc., but cats don't do it for me. On the other hand, the cat and my wife have really bonded, and it's nice to see them together. The cat brings her toys to my wife, sleeps on my wife's side of the bed, waits at the door for her to come home from work. It's nice to know that the cat has a favorite person, I'm just glad that she hasn't picked me for that role.

Thanks for sharing!

I caught a little young Tom peeping in our back window who has been hanging around our house for the last two months.

He has gone from mooching our inner-outers food to just peeping in our back window and laying on the back porch listening to the pool.

Them young jewels had to go as he was trying to jump our laid back Bella.

Good luck to y'all and everyone else looking after these animals!
