Locust blossom time just arrived at our place. Intoxicating Some years for a week or 2. Last fall we had to harvest 4 leaners plus one windfall but produced 3+ cords for the coming season.

I don't know that we have much black locust up here - one flowering tree that we do have here in Red Wing, MN that I NEVER saw in any other parts of the state are Catalpa trees - I look forward to those couple days every spring when they bloom - huge trees covered in white blossoms and they smell great. They don't last long, but it's something special. Much better than the Ginko (I think?) trees that the city plants in the boulevards that smell like cat piss. Edited to add - MN lists black locust as an invasive and is why I haven't seen any around here. I think we do have some other locust trees though, but I don't remember them flowering much (if at all?). I reject your reality and substitute my own. --Adam Savage, MythBusters

As I noted earlier in the thread, great firewood too. A few years ago a friend had some large ones taken down and offered me the firewood. Lots of btu's! (I'm all about the btu's ) ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.

We had a few in our back yard, watch where you step they go right though tennis shoe soles and riding lawnmower tires like a hot knife through butter. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
