In an interview today, Chris Wallace asserted to Kellyanne Conway that Christian asylum seekers were admitted in roughly equal numbers as Christian. Wallace asserted this in complaining about President Trump's administration giving preference for Christians.

His assertion seemed quite slanted to me. According to the Pew Research Center, in 2016, the Obama "administration set the goal of resettling 10,000 Syrian refugees in the U.S. in the fiscal year. This goal was exceeded, and refugee status was given to 12,587 Syrians. Nearly all of them (99%) were Muslim and less than 1% were Christian." LINK

Trump was talking about how Christians in the worn torn areas made part of enhanced vetting and a temporary immigration pause were not being protected through our asylum process. Being slaughtered for their faith in those areas is truly a religious purge and those people need to be protected.

It is not that the United States does not admit Christians. It is that the Obama administration turned a cold shoulder to Christians in allowing asylum here.

Wallace skewed the facts to say that it is a lie that Christians are not in need of special protection and treatment now because they were being admitted in the same number as Muslims. Wallace is wrong. 1% is not a fair treatment of Christians who are being beheaded, raped, enslaved and subject to persecution for nothing other than their faith in ISIS areas.

Wallace seems to me to be on a misinformation campaign all his own. He showed a picture last week that falsely asserted that the crowd size he showed was accurate. Other pictures showed a packed crowd but he chose to use an earlier picture taken before the crowd was fully formed during President Trump's speech to assert the crowd size. (I am merely referring to something already covered in this thread to show Wallace's ongoing bias.)

Two weeks in a row, Wallace called President Trump a liar and falsely reported to do it - or so the facts seem to me.

I just saw a picture of his little press conference. Talk about a dramatic little photo op.

I think this prick is going to be worse than the old moldy senator from Nevada.

Oh yea. Schumer is a political drama major. He's conniving, too. Fortunately, he does not wear well on average people.

The republicans better start pushing back hard against this bullshit or they are setting themselves up for failure. Schumer also called this unconstitutional, which is clearly wrong. The longer these American hating assholes are allowed to spew this crap without being challenged the worse it will get.

The democrats have decided they will in no uncertain terms work with Trump. Fine. Start shoving it so far down their throats they choke. Cabinet appointments? Nuclear option. Supreme court nominee? Nuclear option. The modern democratic party is the party of bigotry, hatred, divisiveness, and exclusion. Everything they do is calculated to bring maximun harm to this nation, all while increasing their personal power. They are disgusting.

Anyone want to explain to me why my wife's Jewish friend is scared of trump? Did her brainwashers tell her that trump kills Jewish women or something? I don't get it...she does openly say that CNN is a worldwide leader in news so that could tell you her mindset.

Consider that generically immigrants are better off than those left behind. They have ambition and resources, often with a higher education.

Immigration therefore drains the country of origin of those best positioned to bring about change in their country to improve the quality of life for their fellow countrymen. Do we really help humanity by allowing immigration?

Immigration can make life better for an individual, but not society at large.

why the US/ Why not another country closer to their homes? What would they do if the US didn't exist? And what makes them think that we have any obligation to let ANYONE into this country because they're not happy where they are?

Mexico is particularly friendly to refugees, I don't see anyone going to Cuba. How about Canada - they'll take anyone. No waiting.

You are probably correct - I haven't really researched it. But, I have been told that the punishment for illegally immigrating into Mexico is pretty intense.

Canada, on the other hand, just announced that any and all Muslims are welcome to go to Canada.

The key is to keep the GOPe off balance and not allow them to feel comfortable going back to business as usual as it was prior to the past election.

2013 report:

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/...es/story?id=20931131

The discovery in 2009 of two al Qaeda-Iraq terrorists living as refugees in Bowling Green, Kentucky -- who later admitted in court that they'd attacked U.S. soldiers in Iraq -- prompted the bureau to assign hundreds of specialists to an around-the-clock effort aimed at checking its archive of 100,000 improvised explosive devices collected in the war zones, known as IEDs, for other suspected terrorists' fingerprints.

An intelligence tip initially led the FBI to Waad Ramadan Alwan, 32, in 2009. The Iraqi had claimed to be a refugee who faced persecution back home -- a story that shattered when the FBI found his fingerprints on a cordless phone base that U.S. soldiers dug up in a gravel pile south of Bayji, Iraq on Sept. 1, 2005. The phone base had been wired to unexploded bombs buried in a nearby road.

As a result of the Kentucky case, the State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011 , federal officials told ABC News – even for many who had heroically helped U.S. forces as interpreters and intelligence assets. One Iraqi who had aided American troops was assassinated before his refugee application could be processed, because of the immigration delays, two U.S. officials said. In 2011, fewer than 10,000 Iraqis were resettled as refugees in the U.S., half the number from the year before, State Department statistics show.

A top White House official appeared to reverse a key part of President Trump’s immigration order on Sunday, saying that people from the affected countries who hold green cards will not be prevented from returning to the United States.

But the official, Reince Priebus, the White House chief of staff, also said that border agents had “discretionary authority” to detain and question suspicious travelers from certain countries. That statement seemed to add to the uncertainty over how the executive order will be interpreted and enforced in the days ahead.

I'm glad that was clarified. If you are a legal US resident, then that would be complete bullshit to do to them. As for the rest of them, fuck 'em. Sorry you were approved for asylum or a visa, you have to wait a couple of months.

Canada's policies and immigration practices have been a threat to our nation for decades. I'm in favor of stricter restrictions canadian borders and canadians entering our country. They've wreaked some havoc in our university system in Alaska, where their students come and never pay their bills.

Honestly...we need to just take their country. I'm a large fan of taking canada for ourselves and building a big wall between mexico and us. The resources of canada are HUGE. Time for some more manifest destiny expansion....

Just more fake news from CNN. They continue to report stories that are long on speculation and short on facts.

canada is a leach. They ride our success, while spitting on us. They're weak. A large portion of their country would make excellent US citizens. They've been an ineffective ally, one of those "with friends like that, who needs enemies?" sort.

Canada bans people based on presumption of guilt. Anyone one arrested for any crime but found to be innocent by a court (charges thrown out, jury verdict or by judge) will be booted out of Canada anyway. Doesn't matter if innocent, Real nice guys.

More than a few people have been turned away at the border for some prior/minor offense long forgotten. I'm still pissed at the gallons of liquor I had to leave when I moved up here the first time. Several gallons of Don Q rum from puerto rico....I had just stocked up prior to the move.

Today what little exposure I've had to social media and news has been nothing but liberal hysterics based false news and false assumptions. My blood pressure is going to go through the roof if I don't find a way to ignore this - for sure there is no reasoned, intelligent approach that would work for them, like...sticking to the facts. Morons.
