Well, one sanctuary city down.
Miami-Dade Will Comply With Trump's Sanctuary-City Ban, Despite Gigantic Population of Immigrants
"Miami-Dade County complies with federal law and intends to fully cooperate with the federal government," Gimenez wrote. "I will partner with the Board of County Commissioners to address any issues necessary to achieve this end."
County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, a Democrat, tells New Times that Miami "must avoid racial and ethnic profiling" in the Trump Era.
"The important point that we have to remember is that we're out of the campaign season, and we’re past campaign rhetoric," she said. "We have to do our best to protect our community and our residents from any harm. We are an inclusive county."
"We're going to have to find a way to not jeopardize those who come to this country for freedom," she said, adding that she was, however, understanding that Gimenez was acting to protect the county budget.
Miami-Dade, a county where more than half the population is foreign-born, had never designated itself an official "sanctuary" area. But as of 2013, the county operated like one: That year, the county commission passed a bill forcing county jails to refuse requests to detain undocumented immigrants indefinitely. (The U.S. Department of Justice named Miami a "sanctuary city" in a 2016 report.)
It's unclear how much federal funding Miami-Dade could lose by fighting Trump — but the money was certainly a small fraction of the county's total, multibillion-dollar budget. The DOJ estimates Miami-Dade receives just $10.7 million annually from the Justice Department alone.
Unlike city governments in places such as San Francisco or New York that passed the measure out of a sense of moral obligation, the Miami-Dade Commission only approved the 2013 rule to save money. The federal government wouldn't reimburse Miami for jail costs so indefinite stays were expensive. And now, the county is rolling over in spectacular fashion. Gimenez's order is likely to follow him for the rest of his career.
Elsewhere in America, "sanctuary city" mayors have dug in their heels and steadied themselves for a fight with the Trump administration: New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, and Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, among many other local leaders, have vowed to defy Trump's sanctuary-city ban. Gimenez — who was a longtime Trump ally before announcing his support for Hillary Clinton last year — was apparently unable to find any sort of backbone to stand up to the Trump administration for more than a single day before rolling over.
Trump's executive order is based on the factually incorrect premise that undocumented immigrants are drivers of crime in U.S. cities —the majority of independent studies of violent crime by undocumented immigrants show that immigrants commit fewer violent crimes than U.S. citizens.
Gimenez, however, could not be bothered to stand up for facts and reason in the Trump Era for more than 24 full hours.

Talking with one of the guys at work last night, I told him with how much Trump is doing, I wonder how he finds time to sleep or spend time with his family.

Nothing against the guy, but from the documentaries and things I've read about him, he usually puts work/career first.
One of the reasons his 2nd marriage failed is because he's so driven and she wanted more Trump time.

90% would be better. On all outgoing personal transfers to foreign nationals. Excluding payroll for foreign nationals gainfully employed by US companies abroad, and similar.
I have seen sickening amounts of cash flow from this country to Central and South America, from coworkers here legally sending money back to, in their words, "my country"(ies).
As to the consulates being opened for legal counsel, sure let the people in the gates onto "Mexican" soil here in our United States. Let them back out after their visas and criminal statuses are verified.
They're gonna need more rooms...

So while the DEMs are savagely beating up DeVos as the Education nominee, a new report just came out.
Over his 8 years, Obama pumped $ 7 Billion into a program called School Improvement Grants (SIG).
nice acronym though
The program directed money to schools with low academic achievement and graduation rates below 60 percent for high schools, among other factors.
The report, though, focused on data from nearly 500 schools in 22 states that received SIG funding, and concluded the program had “no significant impact” on reading or math test scores; high school graduation; or college enrollment.
“Overall, we found that the SIG program had no impact on student achievement,” co-author of the report Lisa Dragoset told Fox News.
so please DEMs, keep explaining to us how Trump's nominee has it all wrong. Obviously the DEMs have mastered "getting it wrong" and are indeed the experts.

The could've used the NJ Abbott districts as a case study. Massive amounts of cash were/are thrown at underperforming schools in hopes to increase academic achievement.
It's a total waste...some kids don't want to learn.

Yep. They've been conditioned to believe that doing well in school is "acting White" and they want none of it. They need to be inculcated with the idea that it is "acting smart" and the only way to get anywhere in the real world. (However, most of them don't think they'll ever see age 20, anyway....)

Someone needs to just say it. School starts at home. Time and time again politicians want to pump money at a problem that money doesn't solve. Guess what kids with involved parents succeed much more often than those without. Find the kid that made something of himself growing up in the ghetto and guess what. Almost always he/she had involved parents. The parents don't have to be rocket scientists but they do have to be involved and make sure their kids are involved in school. When mom and dad if dad is even around don't give a shit then the kids not going to give a shit.

I'm a bit over 70 years and I NEVER ... NEVER thought I'd live long enough to see someone like President Trump become President of our great country. He is certainly draining the swamp ... and I can only imagine how a good many DC federal workers must be thinking as a couple of Marine Generals begin to help with the swamp. In 6 days, our President is reshaping our country. God Bless President Trump.

.
But wait... if a school improves the graduation rate, they no longer get the damn funding. Think about that for a moment. Think about the possible outcomes of such.
In engineering, we call that an unstable feedback system.

I might suggest a couple of things. Pro causa non causa, ie, misidentifying the root problem. Also, self-serving agenda, those receiving the money have their private agenda that may not include improving academic achievement.
