I teach at an all-girls school. Earlier this week, several kids were talking about going to the march and even they struggled to define what the point actually was.
No one knows.

cparktdJust curious. Would the President normally be in any type of body armor for this type of event?

It's calling for snow for us but not near enough. And temperatures will only be in the low 20's. Bummer.

mbinkyAgain, I can't get over how good of a choice Pence was for VP. When he was chosen I was like "who is THIS guy"? Looking at him now I can see him being way more than just the number 2 that goes to diplomatic events at second rate countries.
Trump's first hire was indeed indicative of his future hires as we saw how he rounded out his cabinet. Got to be one of the most non-politically accomplished cabinets in history. People who know how to succeed in the real world, not the Washington world. And I think that's a good thing.

It is said that Trump has a particular talent for picking and empowering good help. Let us pray that is so.
This is what caused me to become an admirer of El Diablo. I knew he was Governor of my home state, of course, the best job in the world to many. I did not know much about him, though, after expating for so many years in Whackyland.
I didn't pay much attention to his candidacy, until he announced his Veep would be Dick Cheney. I knew who Cheney was, a very successful and reliable fellow of proven capability, sound judgment who had earned the confidence of every Republcan President since Nixon! That told me that El Diablo was a serious candidate who knew how to pick 'em.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown January 20, 2017, 04:01 PM

sjtillAll together today.
I'm very hopeful, as are most Americans.
Just heard "Hail to the Chief" and got a little misty-eyed, rather to my surprise.
Perhaps the strongest cabinet ever, speaking to JAllen's comment about how leaders pick people says a lot.
Our President will need lots of support to get his program through, and I will be happy to help.

JALLENAs the day has worn on, it looks to me like Mrs. Trump is starting to relax and enjoy all this. She seemed fairly tense this morning.
After all this time in those Jshoes, you would think it would be the opposite.

She's young but already has a good head on her shoulders:

Sixteen-year-old former "America's Got Talent" star, Jackie Evancho, is set to take the stage at Trump's swearing in on Friday and perform the National Anthem.
Evancho told CNN she's "extremely excited" and "nervous," while also trying to tune out some of the backlash she's received.
"[Fans] are upset for the wrong reasons. I'm not involved in politics," she said. "I'm doing this because it's a privilege and an honor to perform for my country ... it's sad."

Indeed I though the same thing. Anyone know how they chose what service escorts who? I swear at the innauguration a Naval Officer escorted the vice president's wife, and a Marine Officer escorted the First Lady. Now at the parade a Naval enlisted man was with the VP and Marine enlisted was with the President.
I don't know. Just something I noticed. Or think I did.
