AKSuperDuallyGood Hot Sauces
I make my own. I cut my own with texas pete for the family and call it "mild". Sometimes I run out, and I sure like texas pete. I think it has a lot of sugar in it.

konata88I've been using these 2 for the past few years. For me, great flavor and just the right amount of heat. Very versatile sauces.

maladatI tried a couple of El Yucateco sauces a couple years ago when I saw a bunch of recommendations, and I didn’t like them at all. The two or three I tried all had a weird bitter undertone that I found very unpleasant.
Maybe it’s just me, they always get mentioned by a lot of people anywhere I see people talking about hot sauce.

Ken226My favorite by far is Rads.
It's a garlic and pepper hot sauce, aged in oak barrels. Made locally. Quite expensive though at about 14$ a bottle.

That said, I will never forget the kindness of the McIlheny family in providing FREE little bottles of Tabasco sauce to every US serviceman in Vietnam, back in the ugly old days. Went a long way toward making C-ration meals halfway edible out in the bush.
Tabasco will have my business for as long as I am still around.

I don’t think any of these are very spicy but they all look like great marinades except maybe for the Fuego box of 5.

Ended up ordering a couple bottles of their green chili salsa and a bottle of their hot sauce, in spite of the fact that it’s not the same maker. Both have plenty of heat. The green chili salsa is what I was really seeking, and I guess I’m happy that it’s plenty hot. I haven’t had any green chili Mexican food in order to really try that salsa, so I’ve only sampled it. The roja hot salsa I’ve had a couple of times. I still like Pico Pica better. Both the salsas from Old Pueblo Poblano are vinegar based, and that’s a drawback for me. Just don’t care for the flavor of vinegar based salsas. Vinegar is the 3rd ingredient in the verde, hope it’s not too omnipresent.

Jimbo54My current favorite is TryMe Cajun Sunshine. A perfect blend of heat and flavor. Excellent on pizza, grilled oysters and of course eggs.

They were putting them little bitty single serving bottles inside MREs when I was in in the 80s. Not sure if they still do or not. It was great sprinkled on the spaghetti.
That's all I use is Tabasco. Not necessarily because of that, I just like the flavor.

I'm in Louisiana and one of my friends was good friends with one of the old McIlhenny men. He would go pick him up and go take him for rides. My buddy was a wildlife Prof. at LSU and one day they passed a Ford dealership. My buddy said that's a pretty truck there on the lot. Mr. McIhenny told him to pull in and look at it. It was nice dully so Mr. McIhenny bought it for LSU for my buddy to use.
I've been to Avery Island a few times to tour it and buy stuff at the store. I really don't care for their regular Tabasco it has too much vinegar for me. I like Louisiana Hot Sauce which is in New Iberia too.

GT-40DOCAccording to Old Pueblo Poblano web site, there is a retailer less than 2 miles from me. I think that I need to give them a try and see for sure. The original company was just Poblano brand.....not Old Pueblo Poblano....but the label is almost identical!!

41I'm on my last bottle of "Bad News" barbecue sauce put out by the basketball player Jim Barnes.
It came out in the late 70's and picked up by Giant Foods after it had been discontinued in the late 90's. Then Giant stopped making it probably since Jim Barnes passes away in 2001.

I picked up a bottle of the green and the red hot sauce today. It definitely has more vinegar than the original version. The taste was acceptable to me, and not at all overly hot. Not as good as the original, but I may just make this brand a regular.....will have to try them on different foods to know for sure.
