Chris42? On Automotive battery chargers, for multiple batteries -
I can count 8, possibly more, wet cell batteries that I need to keep a charge on through the winter. They include four motorcycles, two lawn tractors, two farm tractors and a generator.
I see that there are 4 “bank” (will charge 4 simultaneously), 6 bank and 10 bank chargers available that will watch and charge them as needed. The higher number ones are pretty pricy ($500+) so I am thinking about a 4 bank charger, maybe two.
Some of the chargers will maintain both 6 and 12 volt batteries. This would be ideal, as two of my motorcycles are 6 volt.
Anybody with experience with these?
Preferred brand to recommend?
Avoid the idea at all costs?

PowerSurgeThe 4 bank Battery Tender charger is made a lot better than their single units. I would just buy 2 of those and be done with it.
If you need one or two more banks I’ve had really good luck with the Bosch SCPlus. The SCPlus will also charge 6v batteries. I get them from rockauto:
https://www.rockauto.com/en/to...,battery+charger,270I gave up on the single Battery Tender brand chargers since I had 2 of them fail less than two years old.

hrcjoni use this, but you won't like the price...http://products.batterytender.com/Chargers/10-Bank-Charger-12V-6V-4A.html
On the other hand if I was near the batteries on a regular basis I would just get a couple of the small battery tender chargers and move them between batteries once in awhile. It's not necessary that they constantly get charged.

kg5388I use a multi battery charger made for boats. It does 4 batteries and is made for damp locations so I don’t worry about it being out in the pole barn with the equipment.

Here's a similar Deltran product -- a four-bank device -- for about a third the price of that 10-bank one.

It’s over a hundred bucks cheaper on amazon:

kramdenBetween my son and I we probably have 14 batteries that we have to trickle charge especially things in storage for the winter. We have the Harbor Freight chargers. You can catch them on sale or coupon for around $5 at times. They have worked very well for us. I have a car at a home I have in Florida. Will sit sometimes for 6 mos. Have one on it too. When we get there it fires right up.

smlsigI’m a big fan of the Noco Genius line of battery chargers/maintainers.
They “exercise” the batteries which prolongs their life...
You can get this one for about $200 after the 10% discount.

trapper189Make sure the batteries are fully charged before storage. Disconnect the negative wire. Come spring, charge the batteries and reconnect the negative wire. Three or four months of winter storage isn't going to kill your batteries.

It won’t kill them but it will shorten their life. Its’s better to keep them on a trickle charge system.
