Thank you very much for the above two posts.
berto: hadn’t heard of those tests before. Will ask on our next visit.
92fstech: my wife is currently taking Metformin as part of her treatment. Will ask for the additional tests to confirm we are not assuming at the wrong tree Wink

Thank you both. Every tip is priceless as we learn to understand the path ahead using your personal experience in addition to the medical lingo and short basic explanations provided.
Wife still looking for the right place to prick her fingers as she doesn’t bleed enough and her fingertips are sore and hurt and her arms look like she’s got beaten by an angry gorilla. God bless her, she’s smart and keeps her spirits high.

I think a few other here have mentioned it as well, but avoid the middle of the finger pad and prick the side of the tip of the finger.

I work with my hands a lot and have a lot of callouses, so sometimes I have trouble getting a big enough blood drop to test. Typically I have the best luck with the side of the tip of my pinkie finger, or if that one's been over-abused, the ring finger. Usually I have to squeeze the tip of my finger after pricking it to get it to ooze out enough blood for a test. Staying well hydrated helps, too.

There's nothing more frustrating than trying to test and not getting enough blood so you have to waste a test strip and prick yourself again. Eventually, she'll get a pretty good idea of how big a droplet she's going to need for a successful test. Some strips require a bigger drop of blood than other's too. The Abbot ones I've been using recently require a LOT of blood compared to some others, but they're cheap-ish, work with my Libre reader, and are individually packaged so they keep for a long time.

She received the Accu-chek Guide kit. She can’t get enough blood often using the sides of the pad so she must turn to the most painful and inconvenient solution. Thick blood and shunk veins… not having it easy.

I always bitch about my country’s trade and foreign currency restrictions. It also severely affects the choice of blood measuring devices. The ones i found online are old versions , not the ones suggested. Same applies for the supplies. And it is all while it lasts since inflation and prices are measured in hours.

Adopt, adapt and keep going.
