Appliance Brad, I am in the market for a dishwasher to replace my 3 year old frigidaire that is a royal pain in my rear, the newest issue is that it no longer dries and I am tired of fixing it.

What brands do you recommend? Any features that I need to look out for to make sure I get or do not get? Thanks for the help
Hudson

Everythings retro, get a 50's model

Not Brad but we bought a Bosch, not the top of the line model, and it's been really reliable, quiet, everything gets super clean, dual spray, stainless interior.

Ha,
Thanks for that HRK, Bosch is actually one of the brands I have looked at. Glad to hear you like it. How does it dry?

I have a similar problem with our Frigidaire.
I believe Maytag was the model Brad recommended last time I asked.

I believe model MDB8959SFZ was the one we were going to look at.
Looks like they run in the $650 range online.

Bought a Maytag mdb8959 a month ago. So far so good. Cleans and drys very well. Very quiet. Dont like the silverware basket as well as our old kitchenaid, it is smaller, but we will manage.

One thing to keep in mind on the Bosch, they require a full 34" of height. I was just short of that due to flooring issues so a Bosch was out of the question for me.

Yup, Brad suggested a Maytag for me too, both dish and clothes washer and so far so good

Be aware, a lot of newer dishwashers do not have drying elements any longer. This is done to meet energy use restrictions.

We purchased a high-end Bosch about a year ago and it is a fantastic machine and my wife doesn't miss the drying function.

Also using jet dry is a must with the new machines.

Appliance Brad hasn't posted in quite a while but would always recommend that one Maytag model.

We have always had the drying element turned off. Thinking about this, I'm pretty sure that we have not used it (the heated dry function) even once, in forty years.

Thanks for all the info. I’ll look at the Maytag for sure. We use jet dry and our current DW requires hand towel drying when we unload it as the dishes are wet enough to sling water all over the floor. I’m sure it’s minor in the grand scheme of things but I prefer them to be dry or at the least mostly dry.

Our Frigidaire sucks, it's about 4 1/2 years old and I think it's the professional series too. It doesn't do that good of a job cleaning and I find myself washing things twice. I will clean out the little basket trap at the bottom periodically and try to use jet dry like others have mentioned.

I think our next one will be a Bosch or Asko

I have the same Frigidaire gallery dishwasher and totally agree and also add that if you don't leave the stuff in overnight, it is NEVER dry.

I bought the Maytag to replace a fridgdare (horrible machine). While smaller on inside it works extremely well

Funny, I just ordered a new dishwasher earlier today. My Fridgedaire worked really well for the first 3 or 4 years, but then I noticed the middle and top arms not turning. I've messed with it for about a year and just decided it wasn't worth the trouble anymore.

I ordered the LG LDF5545. It was described as comparable to Bosch dishwashers for less money.

Fridgidaire is the crappiest of all crapity crap I have ever come across!!!!
All Frigidaire appliances put in brand new when we built our last house and not a flipping one made it past 6 years.
The dishwasher was the first to go at just over 3. Same issue just flat quit drying even had the upgraded Sahara dry or something like that.

Replaced it with a Bosch and it has been fantastic. Though as others have said with no heating element Jet Dry is a must!

Everything else we went Maytag at Brads suggestion and those have been great purchases.
Have a Whirlpool washing machine arriving tomorrow at Brads suggestion same company just slightly different warranty.

We're on our 2nd Whirlpool DW in 20 years. No bells, no whistles, not super quiet. Just clean dishes.
