Question about Nashville West End neighborhood
My wife is traveling there soon with four ladies and they have a couple of questions. I can think of no better source of information than this forum. For those familiar with the area:

Is this a safe area in terms of violent crime?

Are there places/areas to avoid for safety concerns?

Tennessee recognizes Michigan's concealed carry license, but does the city have any ordinances that are restrictive regarding concealed carry?

Thanks in advance!

West End is several miles long. Property crime is higher in the Vanderbilt Campus area.

In TN the only local restrictions are parks which are posted.

In Tennessee, with a CCL she can carry into bars and restaurants as long as she’s not drinking. I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure TN passed a preemption years back that kept local areas from banning carry when licensed so may want to check that as it pertains to parks but she should be good anywhere but sporting events and government buildings. That area isn’t the worst but isn’t the best. There is a large homeless camp under the freeway not far from there or was last time I was up there. I’ve never had a problem while in that area but best to be careful what is visible in your car, be aware of people watching you put things away in your car before you walk away, and walk in groups for lady’s. A lot of veterans present around Vandy (due to the VA) during the day, lots of students and medical personnel. Definitely safer than most big cities in that area.

Nashville West End would be like Royal Oak to you. Not sure where in Michigan you are, if you are familiar with that area. Older area, but now very trendy and popular.

East Nasty not so much, shouldn't have much if any trouble in West Nashville, tons of money there.

We've run a retail business on the 19th block of West End since 1981. Family business, Catholic/Christian bookstore. We're fortunate, as there isn't much bad happening while we're open from 9 am till 4 pm Monday through Saturday. I used to work late down there in the 80's through early 2000's but now that I'm (allegedly) over 60, I head out before dark these days. People just need to be aware of their surroundings, especially after dark.
Avoid the ridiculous bars on Division St. two blocks behind West End.

We lived in West Nashville for 17 years, in Bellevue. Lovely area, rural. Beautiful area, flooding problems around the Harpeth River near Temple Road area. We now live in East, totally different. It can be sketchy, but choosing wisely the Real Estate can be profitable. We have been in East Nashville two years now. Love it!! ( and our property values!! Nashville can be sketch…
West Nashville is beautiful!

As mentioned, it’s like Royal Oak to Troy. Green Hills Mall to the south is like Somerset. Vandy is a big $$$ school. Belmont has turned into a popular university as well. Lots to see and do.
